We at the White House Media Department now presents you with a new section, featuring the Greatest Press Secretary of All Time.
Kentel’s Pedestal

Apparently I’m needed. This doesn’t surprise me. I was told I could have my own section, something like, “Kentel’s Corner.” Needless to say, I can’t be shoved into a corner. I deserve a podium and your devoted attention.

It’s come to my attention that Canada’s president has been far more terrible than anything that the USA could have experienced. Even Haliman’s detractors can’t claim that he would steal the treasury. For that Haliman, I applaud you.

For those of you not “in the loop”, Canada’s president has stolen the treasury, declared the United States as Canada’s natural enemy, and decided to vanish from sight. You can find out more information about this occurrence here.

For any Canadians, please know that the United States stands by its hat (a top hat, of course). We are certain that Canada will rebuild and recover, but if you require assistance, talk to our administration.

Our White House Interviewer, Hadrian X, caught up with the eUS Secretary of State, and sought some answers for how things are going with our foreign relations.

They’re apparently going well.[/img]
Interview with Secretary of State, Onishi (Kid A)

Q: What is your current title/position with the eUS State department and what are your primary responsibilities?
A: I am the eUS Secretary of State. My primary responsibilities include managing and assigning all incoming and outgoing ambassadors, as well as fascilitating discussion between the US, and other nations, both allies and otherwise.

Q: How did you become involved with the State department and specifically into President Haliman’s cabinet?
A: Last term, as you know, I was involved in Frost's Revolution, for a few weeks beforehand we had been planning the whole thing, and then when it came to announcing an actual cabinet, I found myself without a real role, so myself and PiZ decided on calling myself the Grand Inquisitor in order to fit in with the theme of the Revolution. It was only ever meant to be a minor role, but with the publication of the List, it rapidly became very important within the theme of the revolution and is arguably one of the most significant events within the revolution. However, I soon became irrelevant again after the "honeymoon", and I felt the need to get involved properly. I was in luck, a spot opened up as the Deputy Secretary of State, doing a similar job to what I'm doing now, however, as I was serving under Krems, I was limited by his instructions, and I had to turn down a lot of ambassadors. Haliman then decided to split up the State Department, making me the head, and giving Krems the Foreign Affairs Department. I've known Haliman for a while, and he trusted me to run the State Department this term after seeing my work last term. It is my fullest intention to make this the best month for the US State Department and the Ambassador Program to date and to do him proud.

Q: What is your opinion on the eUS’ current standing within the global community? Where are we strongest and where could improvements be made?
A: Currently, we're quite strong. We have healthy relations with a lot of nations, primarily the PANAM nations, as well as several of the Eastern European nations and in the Southern Pacific. We are on the top of no-one's sh*t-list at the minute, which is always a good thing. Our biggest flaw, in my mind, is that we sometimes to tend to think of ourselves as the of the world. By co-operating more with others on more than a surface level, we'll be strengthening our ties with them considerably, as well as opening our citizens up to a whole new world effectively. This is another on my list of goals for this month. I have been very keen to get our ambassadors involved in the forums and cultures of their host nations, I've been embracing all of our incoming ambassadors and encouraging them to become more active on our forums, and not just listing cabinet changes and MPP's.

Q: What are your thoughts on Spain and Canada? What do you make of the Spain/Hungary MPP? And do you have any insight into Canada’s attempting to propose the US as its “natural enemy”?
A: We can say with confidence that Canada is undergoing a lot of political instability at the minute, there is a lot of confusion amongst their ranks, and it's fair to say that the Canadian President appears to have gone rogue. Regarding Spain and Hungary, there's been a considerable power shift with the New World over the last couple of weeks, and we haven't been as close with the Spaniards lately as we once were. I personally wish them luck in their new alliance, and plan on seeing where it goes before we decide anything drastic on the matter. Whatever happens, we'll be ready.

Q: How does the PanAm Alliance stand currently and what are the next steps that need to be taken?
A: All I can say is that the talks are still under way, and everything is in the process of being finalised. You can expect significant developments within the next few days.

Q: What recommendation can you give people who wish to be involved with the State department? How can they get experience? What qualities are you looking for?
A: The best advice I can give is to contact me directly or to sign up for ambassador duty. I will use anyone who has any kind of skill. I'm not looking for a lot of experience, and the most important qualities I'm looking for are enthusiasm and being good with people. For some foreign nations a passing knowledge of the native language is helpful, but not required. At the end of the day, the Ambassador Program is primarily a retention tool, it gets people involved, and gives them a stepping stone to get further involved in the game.

Q: I heard there is a little confusion from time to time regarding your account, "Onishi" as you are "Onishi" in game and "Kid A" in the forums and on IRC. What issues have you had and what would you like people to know about you (Kid A)?
A: The biggest issue is name recognition, and people confusing Onishi on IRC of being Onishi in-game. Most of the forum-goers know the difference, but it is something I have to regularly clarify with people I don't have regular correspondence with. It's become a habit at this stage, I don't think about it. Before my recent spout of taking politics seriously, I made fun of the issue, saying such things as "everyone is onishi", but since then I have done my best to make sure that people know the difference, especially considering that myself and the real Onishi have differing opinions on a lot of subjects, and it's not fair on him that some people would consider my beliefs to be his, after seeing "Onishi" state them in-game.
*Considers not asking, but then decides to go ahead anyways*

Q: Can I have some gold, Kid A ? 😃
A: No.

Maybe next time, Hadrian.

Forward unto dawn!
