We few, we happy few, we band of brothers ... the last moments in Carinthia!

Short passage from the diary of a soldier…

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers will stand up to the hordes of Croatians, look them in the eyes and say "Ye shall not pass!"

It was just after dawn… Battlefield was full of dead soldiers. The smell of death was in the air. Rivers of blood filled the ditches. There was only a few of us and we were greatly outnumbered. We were pushed back, to a small corner of the battlefield. Enemy had a full advantage. Although it was 7:3 for us, we lost a great number of soldiers and we lost the last 3 battles. Allies were weared down and tired and we were out of food fights. The enemy occupied 65% of the battlefield. We needed a plan fast. We lost the last 3 battles, but the day change was near and the food fights were in the reach. I quickly looked around amongst the soldiers… Some of them were still showing some sign of battle fever. I said “Enough is enough!” and I scraped together the last 30 gold I could find. Then I saw Yozo. He was willing to fight so I send him some supplies. Then SmoothZiga volunteered. “I have some food!” he yelled. PVS commander KaPaVem said “Let’s do this!”. We gave food to some soldiers. Some of them even scrapped together some old and rust tanks. I pulled a bunch of HELLtanks from my Angry Angels factory. We were ready. But I still felt outnumbered. I looked around and then I saw kualkerr, an old friend and a good, strong soldier. I asked him if he could help. He said yes.

The last minutes came. I could hear the hordes of Croatians charging. They had a full advantage. We were pushed to the last 27%. I grabbed my gun and look around. KaPaVem, hun atila, hakelc, crush07, mick8613, birdylorn, silostheone, SmoothZiga, Yozo, kualkerr and I were ready. “It’s now or never” I said to them and looked at the first Croatian soldiers charging from the smoke. All around us bombs and shells were falling from their artillery. And so it began. Their soldiers run passed us, they didn’t see us hiding in a forest. They were confident, that they will win. They didn’t expect us. As soon as the last soldiers cleared from the smoke, a Klingon in me screamed “It’s a good day to die” and then I yelled “GO GO GO! OPEN FIRE!!!”.

Yozo, kuallkerr and I opened fire. A massive offensive fire rained down on enemy soldiers. We quickly gained advantage. Enemy was suddenly under heavy pressure. Hell opened and a huge wall of fire pushed them back. In just a 2 minutes we gain 10% of the battlefield.

First minutes of hell...

We pressed harder and harder. Gaining % after %. We were almost at the finish line. Just a few meters. Then enemy pushed back and I gave orders. KaPaVem, hun atila, hakelc, crush07, mick8613, birdylorn, silostheone, SmoothZiga opened fire. Then a few other soldiers came.

PVS support in the last minutes...

The last of the last. It was enough! We pushed them over 50% mark … 51%.... 52%... the last seconds… and then the end.

The last miles...

We won. We were stronger! Carinthia was free at last. Tired and dirty I fell down. Looked up at the sky, and just at that moment the smoked cleared. Blue sky. I smiled. 10 minutes later I stood up, grab my gun and for the last time looked at the enemy, who was now hiding in Upper Carniola. Just a few miles from here. “We’ll be back!” I said to myself and then run to my chopper. It’s time to go back home.

From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile...
(From Shakespeare's Henry V)
