Kim Jong Un, First Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, First Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, gave on-site guidance at the May 9 Catfish Farm.
He said that he was very pleased to hear from the commanding officers of the unit of the People's Army he had inspected the day before he went to the farm that the unit had regularly been supplied with catfish produced by the farm according to the supply system established by Chairman Kim Jong Il and service personnel liked them very much, adding he visited the farm to meet the employees thoroughly carrying out the behest of Kim Jong Il.



Noting that Kim Jong Il personally initiated catfish farming, chose the site for the farm and clearly indicated tasks and ways for securing fries and putting fish culture on a scientific and intensive basis, Kim Jong Un said the farm serves as a breeding farm for the country's catfish culture and a patriotic legacy left by Kim Jong Il, which was built in the period of the "Arduous March" and the forced march under his guidance and care.
Proposing erecting a monument to the field guidance to convey the leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il to posterity as he visited the farm several times, Kim Jong Un personally chose its site and suggested officials to call the farm the May 9 Catfish Farm in the meaning that its employees should work hard, always remembering the day Kim Jong Il visited it for the first time.
Kim Jong Un went round various places of the farm including the incubation pond and the catfish pond to learn in detail about the production and management on the farm.



Underscoring the need for the farm to increase production by more than 100 tons from next year with the existing manpower and production site, he indicated the ways to do so.
The experience gained by the farm shows that it is possible to make a great success in fish farming only when it is put on a Juche, scientific and intensive basis, he said.
He called for raising a strong wind of bringing about a radical turn in fish farming on the basis of the experience and thus unconditionally and thoroughly carrying out the behest of Kim Jong Il.
He praised the officials and employees of the May 9 Catfish Farm as pace-setters in the country's catfish farming.
He had a photo session with them, expressing his expectation and belief that they would add glory to the leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il by boosting the production of catfish.
