The Political side to the Work Tax
Lyda Allen
Our Dictator Mr. Woldy, our faithful dictator, and Congress proposed on day 2,919 a work tax that was accepted with a 1-0 vote increasing the work tax from 5% to 6%. For people that were working before may not have thought this was a big increase in payment but in actuality It raises a good sum for our government. YOu may say exactly how much would it effect the average worker, well let us take a look. THe highest paying job on the market right now is Dave Trenga, our countries president two times over, who pays 81.25 GBP a shift. The 5% work tax would be around 4.06 GBP while now with it being 6% it raises by 0.81 to 4.87 GBP, but how much money does that get the government exactly? It gets them a woopping 4,860.26 GBP a day if everyone work at their job exactly once. WOW, but that only brings in an extra 808.38 GBP than the 5% work tax, so why not give us the tax break. It helps pay to keep our countries pockets floating for the dictators use hopefully we can put it to getting Scotland back.

Apart from the fact the government is poor that would make sense and Woldy didn't decide to do it. Congress voted the change in
look at the administration tab it was proposed and only voted on by Mr. Woldy
Yeah because that's all the game allows under a dictatorship. Behind the scenes congress still holds the power and voted the law in after much debate
Think of the eUK system like the real life UK system. A congress (parliament) is voted in, votes on the laws and then the dictatorship (monarchy) does what they say. Makes the eUK a safe place
Safe system to say the least thank you for the info ill update the article
Interesting article though. It's rather confusing for a new player who just sees the word 'Dictator' but that's the games fault I guess. If you've got any other questions feel free to ask me
Thanks I will
yeah, as sambo said mate, elected CP and Congress have the law making power, our king/dictator woldy does what we tell them. its to safeguard us from enemy takeover ;P
you should be educating your young WRPers
just joined hahahaha
While they are kinda of correct above, to answer your actual point which no one has said anything about yet (but then again most people in the UK don't understand how the tax works, just that it gives them money) is the main source of income from the work tax is players working in their own companies.
For every single company someone works in as a manager, they have to pay the work tax (WT) percentage of the average wage in the UK (found here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/country/economy/United-Kingdom ). So currently thats 3.20cc every time you work in your own company. So say if the average eUK has around 20 companies which they work in each day, thats ~64cc per day in tax. The UK has around 250 active players so thats 16000cc in tax per day, which is over 2,600cc per day extra than 5% WT. Coupled that with the other tax income, it makes up quite a chunk of money. Not that I necessarily agree with the 6% WT though 🙂
I was stating about the hire an employee work tax your numbers for personal companies work though thank you
But like you said, the work tax dropped to 5% would only give you 0.81cc per day, which on its own is nothing, so it's kinda pointless lowering tax just for that reason.
There, that will cover your lost work tax for 1000 days 🙂
exactly and thanks for the tax cut I wasn't venting it just seemed like a good first economical article because of the tax increase
and I explained how it raises money for the government while not affecting us to dramatically
