The Ones We've Lost

no this isn't an endorsement article you political twats

Lately, I've found myself being a lot more emotional than usual. I'll be reading extremely simple sad stories and find myself struggling to hold back tears.

It's quite odd, really.

I was just sitting in my chair, browsing eusaforums and all else eRepublik related, when I realized, these are people.

Real, actual human beings.

What a revelation, right? I've obviously known this for a long time, but it really just hit me.

We all know that you can die in eRepublik by simply not logging in for a while. Most of us have done it at least once, I've done it personally 8 times. Most of us assume that you're simply bored of the game, and wish to no longer involve yourself with it, at least for the time being.

Yet, we never really know. Perhaps you moved somewhere where there is no internet. Perhaps you've gone to jail. Perhaps you're off the grid because you're living like the Amish, I don't know.

Perhaps you're dead.

I thought about the people I care about in this game, these people that I've never known in real life, only over some stupid, over-the-top browser game and various IRC chat rooms. I realized, I would be extremely effected by their deaths. Just thinking about it makes the roof leak

Yet even if they did die, we'd never know. Our only luck is that someone else in the game knew them well enough that they got a call from the family, or the family just goes on the computer and miraculously knows where the person spend most of their time. We'd never know that they've logged off IRC for the last time, and that we'll never be able to speak to them again about what the hell Pfeiffer and his Cabal are up to now.

I don't really know where I was going to go with this, I still don't as I'm writing this article. I guess I just want to let people know that I genuinely care about them, whether "them" be their persona or their RL self.

So, I guess I'll just list off people who I want to know that I really care, or even love them. And if I missed you, don't get your knickers in a twist, it's 745 in the morning and I haven't slept yet.

BeachBunny and Trekker, my caring eParents, love you both lots ^.^
PurpleEggman, my chess buddy
Senryaku, the crazy one
greeling, because this list and article would be nothing without some greeling
ComplexCrow, my personal creep ಠ_ಠ
HarliQuinn, remember the hotel ;P
Chewie, the Jawline
Garmr, the GAINS man
Resoula "It's the A" Innit
Mazzy_Cat, meow

To those who've passed; it was nice to know you and I hope you're somewhere better.

To those who've quit; I, and some others, miss you lots, come and say hi!

To everyone else, I acknowledge your existence.
