I can understand why you feel that way. It seems like a major decision because it is an open ended agreement. But the treaty is meant to be re-evaluated each term, So its not major in the way joining an alliance is.

It was handled in this manner due to military expediency:
The Macs come from a.. volatile.. area of the globe, they don't have much luxury to mull things over.
For Macedonia: they were here, they needed to know how to play it, quickly.
For Irelan😛 its a big shindig getting here. If the government didn't say yes quickly, there would be no chance to mull it over.

Ireland has become a popular AS target lately, Atm we have a sentinel x4 our size inside our territory. Hard soldiers too man. They'd likely cause more enemy attacks simply by being here also. And we'd duo-fight those attacks. And it'd attract alliance prios. Making this whole thing really interesting.

And we don't need a vote to know that what everybody wants is for this to be interesting...

The option for the Government to accept the plan subject to ratification by the people was the correct option here.

Here is the list of options that were available to our government:
a)Tell Macs NOW they can stay till next election
b)Watch Macs leave as they focus on their core regions.

Sometime options sound more like ultimatums and threats. If what you say is true then agreements under duress carry no validity and this country is not bound by them.

This government is mandated at the national and alliance level (Don is HQ). This government and our alliance membership were both democratically selected.
This was an alliance-level tactical military decision.
It's Congress that isn't mandated to handled decisions of this nature, not the CP.

Some kind of Dail discussion would have been nice, especially as there wasn't any desperate urgency for a couple of days with them here already. The likelihood would have been an agreement anyway, but at least the pros and cons could have been discussed, as well as any concerns raised.

Sorry WHS but sometimes decisions got to be made quickly and done fast. Congress was indeed informed but did not respond in a timely manner so we can only assume that they are ok with it.

Congress were informed in advance that a deal would be struck with Macedonia over regions. There was little if no objection.

The Treaty of Mayo was made public for everyone to see, little to no objection.

Congress have still not commented surrounding this Treaty.

No point wasting time over this debate when it really has the full support of the Irish nation, something this government was sure of.

but (1) : regarding the laws of erepublic this kind of treaty is outside the dail mechanic. the government does not need a vote to make this type of agreement.

but (2) : rent/allow/give an irish region even to an ally (last example usa) was always a matter of argument and a NO for the majority of irish player.

Personally i am not sure if a dail vote or referendum would be yes or no. So government chose, we'll see.
