The Gnilraps Plan [Redacted]

Day 2,328, 04:40 Published in USA USA by Gnilraps

Some very clever fish had my article taken down because he can do things like that. I've redacted the only paragraph that could have possibly qualified as being an "issue".

16 Shells From a Thirty-Ought Six (Mandatory Listening)
Day 2325 of the New World
April 2, 2014

While it is a cute notion put forward by my political opponents that I have been too disinterested (one writer even proffered that I was "tired" LOL) to engage the process of running for a second term in office.

While I grant that a smaller-than-average set of campaign media could lead one to think that, my interest has in fact not waned at all.

It is quite exactly my interest in serving as President for another month that has me here to begin with. So buckle up. I'm shutting down all other distractions for the next two hours or so and getting this written down. It's gonna be a lot of text...

So here are my passions, and how I hope to express them in April:

Having Commanded our Armed Forces (and vicariously the combined might of most of our Nation's private militias) through Operation Grey Cup, I have experienced first hand how much effort it can take to keep on top of multiple battles, multiple USAF Military Units, multiple IRC channels, multiple supply chains, multiple people in leadership... Our system is not optimized for efficiency. Understatement. It is a good thing Canada was a relatively weak enemy.

Our USAF soldiers are pretty awesome. They are truly dedicated to their units, their QM's, their commanders... proposing change has not been easy at all. Yes, there has been some resistance from some (though it should be noted that most of that resistance centered around a small group of non-eAmericans who seemed to be putting their interests in maintaining control ahead of the interests of optimizing the efficiency of our Armed Forces. To some extent I dealt with them impatiently and without much sensitivity. They will happily share with you how little they appreciated me...)

However I am very impassioned to carry out an excellent plan to consolidate our USAF into a single ingame Military Unit so that the job of leading them in battle will be possible with great efficiency and for optimal damage.

Last month I called my idea "the Horde". It was during a conversation with Oblige that the concept of total consolidation took shape. He was interested in taking back control of the Special Forces Military Unit. Because I was busy looking for a new Commander for that unit, and because Oblige quickly had a detailed plan drawn up, I was all ears. My only problem with Oblige was that he was utterly inflexible when alternative ideas were proposed. Ultimately, what came out of the wrestling match that ensued was that Oblige admitted he was only really interested in doing whatever he could to get SF's back and that he had no intention of ever passing it along should a future CP ask him to step aside. I had to move away from Oblige and his plan. He's not happy. He'll be letting you know that.

I will not leave eUSA Starving in the Belly of a Whale.

But by far the most excellent idea for how to organize the USAF at the "top" of the structure came from something Pfeiffer said in our PDB (the forum thread used by the President and his Cabinet to keep mutually informed). It was an immediately popular idea among all who offered feedback - to ask the sitting Country President to serve also as the Commanding Officer of the USAF ingame. The CP is, after all, Commander-in-Chief.

But more importantly, the CP citizen account is the one account that [REDACTED] This accommodation is made because it truly is a 24/7 operation. And so having the CP account in the Commander position of what promises to be the largest block of raw military power in our Nation makes total sense. It will be an "active" account around the clock.

[ALSO REDACTED]

And what about the rest of the new command structure?

In short, it will be more streamlined at the top end and more robust in the middle. There will be fewer steps between the will of the CP and the clicks of the soldiers. But in between there will be an expanded "middle management" which will assure steady flow of supplies, information, media, and morale-building-activity.

And the last, most exciting piece of all of this will be that the USAF Military Unit will also be opened up to private Militias who want to climb in to take advantage of the frequent Damage Boosters. Any unit wishing to join will be given autonomy within their Regiment. They will continue to wear their avatar, continue with whatever supply structure they've enjoyed, be able to elect their own Captains...

And in addition to the benefits of fighting with the Government-sponsored Damage Boosters, they will qualify for a Worker-Tax Rebate commensurate with their working Commune structure.

As you can see, a plan as complex and sprawling as the consolidation and creation of a truly UNITED Unites States Armed Forces is a lot of work.

I am going to knock this out of the ballpark. It's the biggest, most exciting reason I want to be re-elected.

Sirius BZNS

When I was elected last month I pointed out that my experience in Foreign Affairs was pretty limited. It isn't any more.

I started slowly, mostly listening and learning. I'd never sat in an Alliance meeting before. But I was thrown into the midst of things and I pretty quickly got up to speed. And right away I hit a home run (I guess I'll run with baseball metaphors today).

Did you know that our own Wild Owl is the Military Commander of Sirius? I probably joked somewhere or another that Greeling managed to pull that off. But as Wild Owl will tell you, it was me. (I just prefer to heap all of the praise on Greeling because we can never get enough Greeling.)

And so it has been an incredible boon to have such a close working relationship with one of our Alliance leaders. I'd like to possibly see him step into the role of taking the top overall Alliance spot, but only if and when he feels ready and willing.

But one of the side benefits to having Wild Owl this involved in Sirius is that it has accelerated my growth as an alliance member.

And don't look now, but 4 of the top 5 nations in the country rankings are either Sirius or Pro-Sirius. We are doing something right.

I want to get re-elected because I am very freeking interested in helping put Asteria DOWN. Winning is fun. I want to keep doing it along side our allies and against our enemies.

It's always difficult to get specific when talking about Foreign Affairs plans due to security and the sensitive nature of international polity. So I'm just going to summarize mine by saying my Foreign Policy is: "More of the same success we had in March."

Interior Motivation

While it was the hard work and daily vigilance of our Interior Secretary and Deputies that made our new "Stack The Wall" program such a cool success, I will take credit for the idea. But it isn't the only idea I've got left in my tank of creativity.

I will be promoting last month's most active Deputy Trickstir into a Secretary position. He and I have been buddies for a while now, we think alike, and I love his work ethic. Under him Stack The Wall is going to continue, Bank Up 2 Strength Up will continue, and I will be sharing with him my latest idea, THE VORTEX.

As excited as I was about Stack The Wall, I'm totally giddy over this. You'll see...

There's more

There are a half-dozen or so smaller agenda items, but the truth is that in addition to playing eRepublik I've also been housebuying this week in real life (in addition to taxes; UGH). So I have to go so some paperwork with my wife. That's romantic, right?

So let me end this article by just asking you to vote for me on April 5th. I can promise you another fun month of Greeling, a massive improvement in the efficiency of our Military organization, continued and increased focus on our Alliance partners, THE VORTEX, and much more.

So Vote for Gnilraps.
