Talon Karrde Question Time

Day 1,570, 12:44 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by HebronGazelle

For those who did not know, Talon Karrde was answering question from eUnited Kingdom citizens today on the IRC. There were some good questions from everyone. I have picked 7 that I liked, or just wanted to add. Under each question is every answer from Talon Karrde, exactly how he said it (except for the fact that he posted some answers in several parts). I also added a comment from myself, which is in italics.
Is the eUnited Kingdom failing? Will we get a congress this time? Can we ever achieve peace? Or is that even in mind? Find out below.

Question From Lily Summers: "I heard there was an Irish peace treaty being created with the Irish CP, is this true?"
Talon Karrde Answer: "no that's news to me if so. I'm happy to talk to Ireland, Canada and France about peace but I've had no proposal from them."
I have also heard nothing about there going to be talks with Ireland. This is likely to be rumours if the government knows nothing about this. Also, if I was in Ireland's situation I would not be giving peace talks, however this may benifit them in the future.
Question From Anonymous: "In terms of importance, what parts of economic behaviour in the eUK are you wanting to promote, and which parts do you wish to see less of?"
Talon Karrde Answer: "anonymous aka ApronChef 🙂 well I'd personally like us to be cautious going forwards there's a danger in importing large amounts of products from abroad as it impacts on what the bot buys so we need to be careful in buying and selling on our markets. on the other hand I would like to try and reduce the price on our goods making things more accessible to newer players and helping them get self sufficient quicker"
Also, if we could manage to get a congress then we could adjust taxes so that it would make products cheaper on the market. I have noticed we have quite high product prices compared to other countries who are more successful.
Question From Lily Summers: "How likely is it that we will have a congress this month? And if so, will we have ONE's support?"
Talon Karrde Answer: "I rate our chances at about 50% at the moment, it's highly dependant on several factors like the disposition of Ire, Fra and Can to negotiating how organised we all are with tactics and ONE's state support wise. yes we will, but will it be worth much to us? I'm about as convinced as you are on that one."
I personally don't believe that we will get a congress this month, but it's always interesting to try. According to the previous Prime Minister, we should be at the top of ONE's list for getting a congress. That was the same for last month so hopefully we will do it this time. My only message would be, save your bazookas guys.
Question From WaterTempleFien😛 "do you think that eUk will be able to take back our homeland with brute force or through peace treatys and diplomatic reasoning."
Talon Karrde Answer: "through brute force is a funny one cos we don't have any. we aren't a big or strong country so that's pretty much out of the question. treaty wise, that's more possible but again depends on more than just these things can be quite delicate."
It's nice to see someone from the government being honest about our chances. Treaty would be the way to go now. Unless we are going to recuit more new players, we are to small to go around showing off the big guns and blowing up our enemies.
Question From Hacker: "In a worst case scenario; both congress and efficient non-congress dependent income fail to occur, is there any backup plan for funding this new national military unit?"
Talon Karrde Answer: "yes there is, and in fact it's the same plan we're using right now. we're getting our WRM for free thanks to some very cool members of our community. that's why I poted for a get what you make' supply method. the one thing I don't want to do is deplete our gold reserves too much so the system we have at the moment is a pretty good one."
Question From Anonymous: "In terms of a diplomatic solution to the end of the war, are you waiting for your opponents to come to the table, or have you made any efforts yourselves to begin the process?"
Talon Karrde Answer: "I've been proactive, I and my MoFA team have actually messaged every country in the game including of course those currently occupying us. the lines of communication are open. I can't really go into too much detail with it, but yes we are talking to them."
As I may have already said, I believe that we need to get more treaties going around. We are not the strongest of countries in any aspect of the game so we need treaties until we have a baby-boom. Communicating with every country is a smart idea as we have more chance of diplomacy but it also shows our weakness to other nations if we contact them all.
Question From Anonymous: "On a military note, do you wish to promote military careers and behaviour, over more economic centric people, ofcourse the military people will be trained to be self-efficient, but is it more so important for the new players, and current economic players to become soldiers."
Talon Karrde Answer: "I think we need to play the game we're in, it's more or less a wargame by design with the entire economy built to facilitate that with weapons and food so naturally we need to point people in that direction, that said I think everyone should be encouraged to play in a way that they enjoy and purely economic players can certainly have their uses too, people like Emergy and Keers with their vast fields of companies are hunegy benificial to us too. though they're great examples as they're also strong so perhaps a balance is needed and should be encouraged."
Yeah, economy is the way to go during the start of the game although it is very tempting for new players to attack most of the time. We need to teach the new players quickly so that they don't waste gold. We need more newspapers publishing tutorials, about anything."
