Red Letter and Ask The Chief

Day 1,004, 22:38 Published in Ireland Japan by Donovan Thomas

Please pardon the deviation from Military theme (though this is about guns) Ask The Chief info is after the financial data.

Bottom Line

One of the many things I worked hard for in my first six months in eRep was to build a Q5 weps company. Last January I succeeded. I was proud that day and spent the next few months paying skilled workers up to 30iep a day to make G-Irish Q5’s. I gifted all of my workers each day to bring them back to 100 health. I would raise salaries as each earned new levels and accolades. I would communicate with my employees via pm, fire as requested and rehire as needed.

At one point I owned, operated, and administered the following;

1. Q1Diamond company in eSouth Africa
2. Q1 Gift company in eIreland
3. Q3 Weapons Company in eIreland
4. Q5 Iron company in eSpain
5. Q1 Moving Ticket Company in eIreland
6. Q1 Oil company in eBrazil (I think)
7. The above mentioned Q5

As the dawn of V2 grew nearer I decided to sell off all but the Q5 Weapons company, pocket the gold and wait to see what Rising would bring.

V2 THOMAS CAN NOT INTO ANYTHING, FAIL!

It brought an absolute standstill to the weapons trade; an economic miasma of which I can not see a cure. Sitting in various orgs I have over 100 Q5 rifles. I'll shoot them all if I have to. I have a strong feeling that unless I gift them away, I will have to do just that.

Today, I fired all my employees, bought up my own stock, downgraded the company to Q1 and put it on the market. Why?

In the red

I’ve sold three stinking guns since V2 fell upon us. A month of some of the heaviest and most passionate fighting we have seen since my eBirth, if not the most fun. In the past month or so I have watched about 40g hemorrhage away. I'd even kept it open for a while due to numerous public outcries of lack of jobs etc and my own vain hopes for a turnaround in the market. Until today.

I'd marked my rifles down to almost 50% of my only competitor to a point where I was offering them at break-even prices. No good. No sales.

I’m sorry to say that there is only one Q5 top quality 100 damage weapons company in eIreland today and it’s not mine. My former competitor offers his weapons at inflated prices of 1.2 gold per. He has a limited stock and few workers.

I’m out of the gun biz for the first time since my second month aboard.

Sorry Éire.

Now… for Ask The Chief

So, very few new players slogged through the wall of text that was the last “Ask The Chief”. In fact, only my “Brother in Gonzo”, H.S Thompson asked a question. So, I’ll answer it…

Q: “Why do e-brits cry so much after we spank them? Aren't soldiers supposed to be fierce?? I think they were trained by little puppies cuz they have sharp little teeth, but don't do much damage.”

A: Well brother, the answer IMHO is thus: eBrits have lived under the infinite protection of PEACE GC or Phoenix (what have you) since their inception (as anything other than a backwater fiefdom). It’s only with the recent diaspora or older players around the globe, rage/emo quitting from eRep and the absolute economic f$%kfest that is V2 that has left them to fend for themselves. Turns out after all is said and done that they were never that scary. Now, most eIRish on the other hand are itching for a fight like a dog with fleas. Fighting feels right to us… So, long story short… yes, the eBrits are “Pip Pip Cherio-ing" their way to e-extinction whilst strong, hearty pirate souled Son’s of Chieftains like ourselves are lapping up the blood and screaming “Éirinn go Brách”!!!

Today’s Learning Objective:

Mowing the Lawn. Today I watched the eBrits (nay, their allies since the eBrits cant do sh!te for themselves) march hand in hand across the North West of England, Canada like line of adolescent Red Rover. They worked it out just right. They lined up on the West End and walked FM first like a damn parade across the map. It worked.

The next time we have a pivotal battle and you’re asked to get your arse to the IRC, do it. These Limey Sweethearts did it, they assigned tiles to groups, stuck to their plan and walked all the way to the East End Blue. We shall apply this at some point, if you fine eIrish soldiers start flocking to the command channels.

Coordination is key. Organization is elementary. Teamwork is compulsory.

Until next time, remember…

“No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making other bastards die for their country.” ~General George S. Patton

Fight Smarter, not Harder!

Éirinn go Brách!!! o7
