Patriotism is a strange word these days. It's become the battle cry of many and is at the heart of many debates in the political arena. Some say Patriotism is service to ones country. Others say Patriotism is speaking out for what is best for one's country, despite the backlash. Patriotism can be found in both arguments, however neither is at the heart of the matter. The true meaning of Patriotism is, and always has been sacrifice. From those brave and historically obscure men who sacrificed their time, money, and lives beside the founding fathers to those who peacefully protested the inequities of the nation by allowing themselves to be arrested in acts of civil disobedience during the civil rights movement. Patriotism is found in the heart of soldiers that brave a hell storm of hot brass to rescue a wounded brother in arms or even those that just arrive at the fight and do what they were trained to do. These men sacrificed their fears in order to aid their nation and countrymen. Whatever you may sacrifice for your country, be it time, money, or your darkest fears, that sacrifice has rendered you a Patriot.

On a side not this may be the last contest I run as I may be getting a divorce in real life so if I disappear for a few days expect me to have one last contest and that will invovle me selling off my assets and the giving my account away.
