Parliament Report:

Day 648, 04:11 Published in Australia Australia by eAus Department of Information

Since the last report, there have been more changes occurring in government that you should be aware of.

Parliament House Forum Change:

On the forum the parliament house has moved. This was in response to the change that was proposed by Xavier Griffith to fit into the future requirements of the constitution. From the main page, On clicks on the link to politics and then to a newly created parliament section . From here, you can find links to a public gallery (where citizens can request what bills they would like to see taking place), as well as the original senate and cabinet pages (although access may be restricted to those links for security reasons). In effect, the senate and cabinet topics themselves haven’t changed, so if they were bookmarked, your bookmarks will still work.

Proposed Military Changes

A discussion is underway in the public section of the forum to discuss changes to the military structure. Anyone is welcome to contribute meaningfully to this discussion, so, please feel free to do so. It is also currently in the discussion phase on the senate forum, but if there are significant changes, a further amendment will be drafted.

War Games Announcement

There will be wargames again - starting tomorrow

Senate Bills

There were also a number of bills that have taken place:

Order of Australia Act Amendment:

A proposal was proposed by Prime Minister Ranger Bob regarding an Amendment to the Order of Australia Act.

The bill also proposed limiting the number of nominations each term to having one medal each for the top four award levels (Australian Knight/Dame, Grand Officer, Commander, and Officer), and limiting the Order of Australia Member awards to a maximum of two medals per term (where previously it was unlimited).

This amendment would also see the creation of an Order of Australia Assessment Council, who would determine the merits of any proposed Order of Australia nominees and determine whether or not they qualified. There were two options for this – either limiting the OAAC of 5 members so that no more than two could be members of senate and cabinet, or to have the members consisting of the Party Presidents of the Top 5 parties. This bill was passed by senate in a vote of 17-0.

With relation to the OAAC (listed above), 4 senators voted for the first option (having only two senators in total being either senate or cabinet), 12 senators voted for it to consist of the top 5 party presidents, and Senator Ollie Chase abstained.

Revocation of the Industrial Relations Act:

A proposal was initiated by Senator TheBlackAdder to revoke the Industrial Relations Act. The reasoning for this was that the bill was since outdated by the Marketplace Control of Government Companies Act .

This proposal was a straightforward, commonsense one, and was passed in a vote of 13-0 (with Dark Vorodor abstaining).

Revocation of the Government Funded Companies Act:

A proposal was initiated by Senate Speaker Melchizedek Smith to Revoke the Government Funded Companies Act .

This proposal was initiated because of the controversy surrounding the GFC act. It was initiated with a proviso that a new proposal outlining the goals of the GFC’s be made (to date, this hasn’t yet happened). This proposal was unusual in that it had no real comments made in discussion of it. (Senator Timeoin’s comment is not included as it is irrelevant in the matter).

The revocation proposal was passed in a low turnout vote of 8-2 (with Listhp Tomptos abstaining). (Several senators were unable to vote due to RL issues at the time of the vote).

House/Hospital Income Taxation Amendment:

A proposal was put forward by Senator Timeoin to amend the eAustralian Taxation Act with regards to the Housing and Hospital sectors.

This proposal was initiated in response to a discussion posted on the senate forum (by TheBlackAdder) which suggested that the Housing and taxation bills were not working as they were supposed to be. This bill aimed to increase the housing sector back to 10% (because the “incentive” of lower income tax is not realised by most newer players, and after players gain more experience, they are unlikely to switch skill types. It also aimed to reduce the Hospital income tax to 0%, as it would make a “nice bonus for citizens who are getting paid less than they could be, in order to work for the betterment of eAustralia”.

All three voting options were passed by senate . The House Income Tax change (increasing from 5% to 10😵 was passed in a vote of 13-0. The Hospital Income Tax change (decreasing from 5% to 0😵 was passed in a vote of 11-2. And that the Amendment be accepted and the eAustralian Taxation Act be updated was passed with a vote of 13-0. (with 3 senators Abstaining voters each time (Mitch Johnstone, Dark Vorodor and Newt Gingrich abstained in each case).

eAustralian RM Export License Loans Bill:

A proposal was initiated by Senator Listhp Tomptos to create a bill to allow eAustralia to export Raw Materials overseas. This bill proposes to give Raw Material companies who fit certain criteria approximately 20 gold so that they can export overseas. Overall, the senators seemed to be in favour of this bill.

The voting options of this bill were rather complex. To start with, there was the proposal that the bill be accepted in eAustralian Law (Passed 9-0 with 2 abstaining senators). Secondly, there was a vote on the maximum number of loans to be in place at any one time. (2-4 received 4 votes, 5-10 received 5 votes, and more than 10: 1 vote). Thirdly, there was a vote on whether senators and cabinet members not involved in the issuing of the loans should be allowed to receive them (Passed 6-4 with 1 senator abstaining from voting). Finally, there was a vote on whether Q2 upwards or Q3 upwards companies should be eligible to receive the loans (4 senators voted for Q2 and higher, 6 senators for Q3 and higher).
