Today is a special day. Exactly one year ago my summer holidays began. I was very bored, so I decided to search the internet for browser games. I've always been a fan of browser games, playing them since I was 8 years old. I'm very interested in politics and strategy, so I decided to search for political browser games. I found some of those, but they were very bad looking. I found on Wikipedia a list with a lot of political games and decided to try them all. When I first saw this game and signed up, I had to create a citizen name. I thought, 'Oh no, now I need a first name and a last name'. So that's why I have a space in my username 😛

The first thing I noticed was the big map of all the countries, and our country was partly (or completely, can't remember) occupied by Poland. I saw a lot of things which had to do something with war and I was very dissapointed. I wasn't looking for a war game, but for a political game. I looked around on Erepublik and found the party page. I was a bit more optimistic and decided to give this game a chance. Back on the homepage I saw you can close the big map which wasn't working properly. I did and the media feed popped up (I didn't scroll down on the home page, so I hadn't seen it yet). There was a lot of media activity and I decided to read the first article with the most votes: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/2405607/1/20

When I read the article of Willem, I was very surprised to see this game was actually a political game after all. So I decided to join the forum and IRC and educated myself in the history and the laws of the eNetherlands, ending up with creating this newspaper. Which is very inactive right now, I'm sorry.

It was a great year. It's really nice to play this game, although I'm still not used to the fact you don't have to be online on this game every single hour of the day. I want to thank Willem for creating his article one year ago, which has convinced me to play this game, and every one else I have ever spoken to. I'm quite busy in RL right now (otherwise I would have done something different on my eBirthday), but I am very excited for another year!
