Occasional ramblings
Mongoosier
Well, hello eAustralia!
Been a while since my last article so I thought I might as well throw something out now since I’m just back from my RL holidays and can’t really be bothered to do any work this week…
So what to write about?
Well the first thing that comes to mind is where the heck have the daily order emails gone?
They were a fantastic help when deciding when and where to drop damage and a handy central location to figure out which wars were a government and/ or alliance priority.
Without them it’s much harder. I dropped something approaching 10m damage over the past two days (that may be a massive exaggeration, I can’t be bothered to check – it was a lot for me though and cost a lot in supplies).
The battles (in South Aus vs. the FYROManiacs if I recall correctly) looked to be going well for Australia so I waded in, got a couple of battle heroes and stole a couple of points for Aussie in D1.
All of a sudden though things just stopped – particularly in D3/ D4 where we seem to have very few eAustralians fighting – and after that we just got smashed.
Ended up I kinda wasted a lot of time, effort and money on wars that weren’t actually being fully supported all the way to the end.
So can we bring those daily updates back? Doesn’t need to be as involved as before (though they were awesome) – even just a quick one liner saying things like:
“Don’t fight in Tasmania – it’s so and so resetting determination bonus”
“War in South Australia is a genuine attempt to take the region – we are supported by LETO – mortgage everything and fight to the death”
Etc.
And talking of allies – what about someone from MoFA giving us a bit of an update on who is helping us out and how often and how. Nothing sensitive, but maybe a fortnightly or monthly report on what we are giving and getting from our shiny new alliance?
We had a massive win a couple of months back in getting Jizan but would be good to get a feel for what comes next and what we should be working towards (obviously the eventual liberation of our homeland but sure that will come later rather than sooner).
And can we get some decent D3/ D4 support in RL AUs afternoon time? Probably not thanks to the time zone… But that’s what seems to be missing right now so we need to find some way to address that.
And finally, in light of recent events, I have a terrible confession to make. The image in my profile picture – that is NOT actually me. It’s a Toad. I am not a RL toad.
I feel I have let the community down by portraying myself as something I’m not and I just had to get this guilty secret off my shoulders.
Phew, I feel heaps better now.
Anyways, really enjoying the new, active Australia – what a change from a few months ago!
Onwards and upwards Aussie!
Cheers,
M

The D3/4 thing is so true. We barely have any oldies around
Yeah they either seem to have buggered off or just aren't fighting.
Guag, was it you who said you were the only fighter we have in D3?! It's presumably fairly hard to carry a whole division on your own!
I wonder where we could get them from? Gotta be Asia to tide us through the afternoon and then hope we are still hanging in there when Europe wakes up I guess. But not sure we have the quality allies in the region to do that.
I am the only D3 in the ADF MU. We do have D3 players in eAus, it is more so co-ordination of everyone which is the hardest thing to achieve.
It would possibly start with more government articles keeping people abreast of the situation, this keeps people interested and up to date, then from there people tend to get involved and be more readily available.
Also helps if MU Commanders keep there members active in squads
government information is way down from what it used to be. i offered to help Sai when he got elected but he didn't want it. players can't be blamed if their hand is out in friendship and it gets slapped away
But players can be blamed when they put their hand up for congress then sit there and wait to be told what to do
No it isn't down. In the past two years the most active the DoD has been was when i was running it...(not a boast because it showed how void of a damned life I am) but to say it is down on what it used to be is false...it is exactly how it used to be. In the last two weeks of the Gatto Gov we had one department only releasing articles and that was his CP office. It's been the same the vast majority of the terms since. Activity always drops of towards the end of the month, always has, always will no matter who the CP is, that is unless ''blow ins'' like myself or Claire are doing it as BOU calls us.
Not an attack by the way, just explaining that DoD activity is always this low.
Also I lied, Irv Noyb is still in D3 ADF. I thought he had just leveled to D4
I doubt you spent as much as me in D4 on trying to win those battles. Don't be so quick to write us 'old folk' off as not doing our part.
Sorry AugustusX, you are quite right - in my reply above I tarred you all with the same brush and that's obviously wrong. No offense intended old chap.
Obviously some people are dropping staggering amounts of damage in D4. But compared to our enemies there just aren't enough of you.
That was my original point before I wandered off track... although there do seem to be a lot of folks at the highest level that don't do as much fighting as they could in key battles.
And the lack of D3/ D4 damage - whether it's home grown or imported - is why we cannot win here. So how do we get more of it?
I know what you are trying to say - refer to PJK down below. He hit the nail on the head.
I agree with you in the sense the attacks appear to tapper off. Whether it is because people see the tide is turned and decide to save their stores for another day or for another reason. I try to do a bit of damage each day, well as much as my puny muscles will allow, however it does make me question it all when you see the upper div's not really fighting IMO.
Voted, past couple of months i was the mug doing the daily orders which is why you were getting them very regular but this month sadly the Minister involved had to step down and the regularity stopped sadly. If Infowar wins i know he has Claire lined up for the role so the Daily Order articles will be regular again
Oh, that was you? Well now I think they were rubbish 😃
No, I thought it was you - it was a great effort and definitely missed. Looking forward to having it back next month! O7
If memory serves i started in March, May and June. July was Fidel's term and he did a great job until outside factors kicked in and he had to step down sadly. I think Sherlock has produced the last few DoD articles. It's funny really but senators get paid 5 gold for their efforts and yet Cabinet members get nothing and they produce way more work...anyway, yep Claire will be a guaranteed active DoD \o/
I don't know much about D4 but I've been fighting my ass off in D3 forever along with some excellent comrades. Off the top of my head and in no particular order MicksKitz, Nerx, Gordon Lightning, Salesman, Arfman, OzzyPom, RedWolfz0r, Numuir, Keriz, sadunarslansoyu.com and Jeff Vader (in addition to Guagature) are regularly up in the leaderboards. Weight of numbers is not on our side but celebrate those who fight hard rather than bemoan the lack of fighters.
Precisely my viewpoint as well. Of course, I party in D4 but it's a similar story there.
You've been an animal for Aus whenever i've been looking. Hats off to you my good man O7
PJK: As I said above, the comment in my first reply was lazy and clearly not wholly accurate. Apologies and hats well and truly doffed to some amazing fighters in D3/ D4 (and D2 and D1).
My original point is still valid though - how can we get more damage in D3/D4? Against FYROM this week we won D1 13-0, but still lost overall by 30 odd points.
Bottom line: we need more D3/ D4 damage to become serious (whether from allies or tempting in experienced citizens from other countries). I just wanted to start a discussion on how we could do this.
totally agree Mongoosier unfortunately domestic politics takes the focus off the national need and that leaves the country starved of available help. government information is a bad state and the articles released aren't very detailed to what the public want to know. hopefully change will come but it's ways off. keep fighting and doing the best you can every fighter counts
The DoD is very inactive at the minute...but it always was/is unless i have been doing it for three of the most recent months. I'm not saying that as a ''ALL HAIL HUGH'' comment but its the truth. Sad, hard to swallow but the truth. Take March, one article in three weeks and then it wasn't daily orders but a critical assessment by the Minister of Government policy. April was not uber-active sadly. May i appointed a nice and well respected Knighthawk who had outside commitments (real life comes first rightly so) but sadly no articles were released unless i did it, and i did them every 2-3 days with updates daily. I was DoD in June and boy you can look back and see they were as regular as an old man with a prune addiction.
This has always been quiet, one article per week is the usual for eAus, so no, in the past year of my time in eAus there has been no golden month of uber-activity in the vast, vast majority of Government departments. Is it right? No, of course not and we do need more information but it's not the crisis it is being made out to be.
I like this discussion. This is exactly what we should be discussing. 07
