National Recovery
Random Irish Guy
Greetings to everyone,
I have decided to break my media silence following that disastrous election (thanks to all who voted for me btw) , but what is the nature of this article I hear you wonder.. well it's quite simple, this article is about the state of relations between us and our ''friendly'' neighbour across the Irish Sea, I think that the current NAP is nothing but an agreement to become a vassal state of the British.. I understand there are those who say it's better then total occupation, let me be the first to point out that collaboration is never the way to go, take an example , France was occupied for four years (1940-1944) and although there were collaborators, France won in the end, largely due to powerful allies and an effective resistance campaign.. the collaborators were then imprisoned or executed.
Now for a little history close to my own heart, during the Irish War of Independence(1919-1921), the IRA began ambushing and killing convoys of troops who were both better armed and better trained then them.. the odds were stacked against them and eventually they forced a British withdrawal.. I know the end result wasn't what the IRA had fought for , but they made a stand against the British and told them they weren't going to make Britain's rule easy for them, another similar thing was that Irish people who either gave information to the British or spied for them were executed without mercy by the IRA.. which is,in my opinion, justice.
The fact is we have Irishmen who have defected to the enemy such as Chewie and Conway.. but Chewie has at least stayed over with the enemy, Conway has had the balls to come back and was given a position of command in our state army, in fact whilst I am on the topic of the traitor Conway.. I had a look at his article and after I read this I had seen enough.. in fact it's obvious to me that the British have no intention of leaving Ireland.. I reckon they have no respect for us whatsoever and see this current NAP as a cheap means of retaining control over some extra provinces since the government is obliged to help the Brits retain control of the ceded provinces or be destroyed..
So my main message here is let's fight until we can fight no more, let's remove traitors from high ranking positions, let's make a stand!
Opinions?
I will now end this with an old Irish republican saying; Tiocfaidh Ár Lá
thanks for reading,
K.Fitzpatrick.

Unfortunately we live in eRep, so wars don't cost real lives. not to mention there is no post world war UK that doesn't want to fight us. in fact from what i've seen in British media they would want nothing more then to wipe us again.. cause they can, and they will.
I would love to say "we can take on the brits" but we definitely cannot.
and because here it does not cost as it would be in rl, and because no one dies here we can fight the brits like there is no tommorow.
Klingon mode....callling brit to surrender...and even if we are losing a battle we celebrate coz we get to fight the scum...
You are also correct Kurgan, so we're back to where we started. with an NAP and a congress/pres that doesn't want to fight.
true.. we wouldn't be able to mount an effective resistance.. but a well planned resistance campaign would prove to them we're not going to make things easy for them
+1
"...wars don't cost real lives."
This is why real life rhetoric doesn't into eRepublik. There's no such thing as eR famine, eR genocide, eR death, peril, sickness, displacement, poverty, etc etc...
To try and equate RL to eR is to seriously misunderstand the nature of real world conflict and suffering.
unfortunately we can't blow their houses up, either :/
3 irish regions..that was a price that Irish honour and pride were sold to brits..
It was 4 but Sweet agreed with brits we are not worthy that much....
Fight the brits and made them our hostages...no airstirke for them...no overseas invasions.
They say they are hangry for irish blood and will enjoy erasing us?
Brits do not know irish hunger...
The UK will attack again and the only question is when? The biggest problem from a gameplay perspective is that the wipe will see another drop in citizens, which is proving very difficult to recover from and would hurt any babyboom terminally. From a personal point of view, if we're wiped, we just continually annoy them like wasps tying them down with RWs.
Like i said..they became our hostages
I agree with Fitzpatrick on most things. I want to fight the bloody British off the face of the earth!!!! but Sadly every campaign we attempt resistance at least has failed. We will require heavy support! Support most nation's will not give this tiny nation. Every citizen of Ireland would have to fight. And that will not happen while Sweet was reelected.
I stopped reading when you tried to use a RL example to illustrate a point about in-game strategy. Sorry mate.
Just to add to our surrendered posture, we now get a tax that, as it currently exists, will push our producers away from eIreland.
Is there a mechanism for throwing out moronic leadership?
Maybe this is why the early greeks weren't fond of democracy, the mechanism you're referring to.
The government didn't institute this "new" tax, the developers of eRepublik did. And no, the developers didn't include a mechanism for throwing out themselves.
11 members of congress voted to keep the tax at 18% (at writing of this) I have little faith in them
greed.. greed absolutely everywhere mate.. not to worry, someday this will all change.. I promise you.
It's not an issue of greed. When the proposal was first made it was considered rogue because the MoF didn't approve it etc.
By the time the MoF advised to accept the proposal many had already voted.. this is the explanation for the voting spread.
Greed would more likely be wanted lower taxes, since that can benefit individual citizens... high taxes only benefits the national treasury. Unless you're in some fringe group who believe that congress are stealing from the national treasury (which as far as I know they couldn't do anyway), it doesn't make sense to say that wanting higher taxes is a sign of greed...
