All begin is hard

Whoever said that gaming is child's play, clearly never played eRepublik.
As I stated in my first introduction article I have tried several times before to start playing eRepublik. Altough the politics and military aspects will intrigue a lot of people, the key in playing this game is in my opinion the persistence of each individual gamer as well as the guidance/training of newbies by veteran eRepublik players.

Political Jungle
The game itself can be a 'Political Jungle' to new players and I can imagine how a new eCitizen can feel lost in this landscape. Where to start? Do I start with my actual nationality or do I play for a country I would like to live in? Is just the first question a new player has to deal with. I for myself, decided to play with my actual nationality and found myself located in Northern Netherlands.
First things I did was checking on almost all the buttons on my screen to see what they are meant for and what their functions are. Changing my profile picture and starting to fight a little bit (this was before I started to read articles of newspapers, signing into the forum and being active on the IRC chat).

It didn't took me a long time to find out how the eNetherlands were ruled and who are sitting in office. It is probably one of the most important thing for a new eCitizen to do. See who your eCountry President is, who are sitting in his/her office, who are the people which are sitting in Congress and which Political Parties and Military Units are there in your eCountry? Try to add some of them as your friends and ask them questions about the game, their jobs or even what you have to do as a new eCitizen in your new eCountry to become a full eCitizen. Rules can change according to The Law of every eCountry. You can choose to join a Party and/or a Military Unit which suits your gameplay. Joining a Party or MU has significant benefits for a new player;
1) You won't be alone
2) You'll make new eFriends
3) You'll always have people you can ask questions to
4) Your fellow members can support you with food and weapons
5) Showing loyalty/activity can move you up the ranks
Joining a Political Party or Military Unit will increase your chances of surviving in the game!

Newspapers
A good way for a new player to start out his/her political path to glory is to subscribe to newspapers. Some newspapers are official organs of your current eCountry and will have regular, important updates about all kinds off topic (Defense, Foreign Affairs, Homeland and much more). As a new eCitizen you are completely lost and have no idea what has happened on eRepublik before you started. Reading articles can help you give an idea of the history and recent changes in your eCountry, changes in game or thoughts of the writer. Starting up a newspaper costs 2 Gold and is also a good way to stay in touch with the community. Readers can vote your articles and comment on them. You will soon notice that most newspapers are political orientated and will write about their eCountry's most recent changes. Don't be surprised if you get commented when you will write politics or about sensitive matters.

Whatever is clever
Whatever political side you choose to be on. Whatever Military Unit you prefer to fight for. Basically it all ends on the same road and that is: TO HAVE FUN while playing eRepublik. But to have fun playing in this game, being an active player is the key to it all. Make yourself heard to The eWorld and ask questions! You'll see that the older players are more then willing to help you out and want you to stay in the game. But YOU need to take the first steps…
