Moment in the Spotlight: Leos111

Day 1,997, 21:51 Published in USA USA by Clint Carmel

As loyal readers know, I mentioned that I would be willing to interview anyone who wrote in. A fellow named Leos111 did so.

Leos111 is an old-timer who used to play this game for a long time, then stopped shortly after the big changes around day 1568. He came back once for a week about 3 or 4 months later, got some Battle Hero awards, then disappeared again until recently.

He seems like a capable and decent fellow. Here then is an interview with him.

1) Tell us a little about you, such as how you found eRepublik in the first place.

1) Well to start off, I'm actually pretty young. 14, to be exact. I started my first eRepublik account (Leosmarty9😎 when I was about 9 or 10, and have been part of eRep every since. Leos111 came about when I forgot my password.

I've been a eUS Congressmen 2 times, and I was a former Assistant to the Department of Economics. I used to run a newspaper called The Economic Times, where I would give daily economic reports, comparing the prices to the previous day, and later, the previous 2 weeks. I am also the creator of Lion Loans, which has since been closed due to the economy crashing when I was gone.

I don't really remember how I found eRep. I think I was looking for some games to play on MMOHut and saw eRep and thought it looked cool.

2) Why did you leave, and do you think you're back for good this time?

2) I left for the reason most people do: I got bored, disintersted, unsatisfied with the Admins, etc. I need something to attach to that keeps me in the game.

At this point, maybe. World War VI is coming and with the CoT, TWO, and Eden happenings, it's keeping me interested in the game.

3) how has the game changed since you've left and returned?

3) It depends on what time I left.

I left for almost a year in 2009 (When we still had seperate working skills, like in eSim). When I came back, that was still there but it was transitioning.

I left 1-2 months after that for another couple months because I was very dissatisfied with what was going on, although I can't remember that anymore.

I then came on and off, basically I became a 2-clicker, until I found the feds in ~2011. I stayed for nearly a year, as I became semi-involved with the Feds, and about 4-6 months later, the EZC. They are really good at helping newbs, and they certainly helped me.

And then came the changes. Dear lord, the changes. The day CC came along and the economy nose dived.

Gold went from 800 CC to 1300 CC within hours. Q5 became cheaper than Q4 and, for a brief amount of time, Q3. Salaries decreased. FRM became more expensive than WRM, a rare even at the time. It became hard for people without upgraded factories to make a profit.

I pretty much rage quit after that. I became pissed on how much the Admins were craving for gold.

Then I come back again, the most recent time, and I see all this stuff with EZC withdrawing from the Feds, SHIELD Forming, CoT and EDEN and TWO from TERRA, EDEN, and ONE.

I got hit hard with new information, and all this information is what is now keeping me from leaving again. I’m starting to like eRep again, like I did when I first joined.

4) What inspires you about the current player-base? Any people who stand out?

4) I don’t really pay attention to the player-base that much. Normally the only time I see and talk to new people is in the IRC rooms, So I haven’t seen anyone that stands out at the moment. Although, I have seen people that were lesser-known before that have risen higher in government and such, like EnterAwesome.

5) Economics used to be a big focus of yours. Any ideas how a new player can make money in the current economy?

5) What a new player wants to do is first join a Military Unit and/or a party, as people there will help you get along your path of improving yourself in eRep. Communes will give you food and weapons to use, so you can sell the ones you make.

Next thing you want to do is Build Food Raw Material factories. Make it so you make just enough to make the food, as FRM isn’t a very profitable business at this point.

Next, build a weapons factory, and build WRM. These have more profit than food, so this is the most important.

Afterwards, upgrade your weapons factory as much as possible, and build WRM Factories along the way. I recommend stopping at Q3, or Q4, then start upgrading your food.

It’s a long and tedious project, but it becomes worth it.

Well, I hope you enjoyed that interview! Anyone who wants their own moment in the spotlight, feel free to send me a message.
