This is getting ridiculous. If you don't want your shit stolen then use the security features the admins provide. Sorting out hacking cases is a timesink for the admins so they put in a feature to stop hackers so that they don't have to put in the legwork. If a player doesn't use the feature then it's their own fault. If the admims changed their position in this case, they would be obligated to do the same for all victims of hacking since the feature was put in, something they just can't do.
brah, if you didn't read what mick cain wrote(plato seems deleted the article and used an sh*t excuse). you wouldn't understand this even a bit.
the reason why a lot of people created a lot of this kind of article is
Mick Cain has bought 200$ bucks, with that, he bought 80 alumunium. he regularly changes his password and even uses THAT SAFETY CODES.
and then, he lost around 20 alumuniums so now he only has 60 alumunium. now.
feel that this is so f***ing wrong, he decided to send some tickets,at the beginning, plato staff seems serious. but in the end,. they used AN EXCUSE and closed the tickets.
coz of that, mick became really mad and shared his logs tickets and wrote an article..
a lot of people around the eWorld saw this and they want to support mick by copied the article and made another one.
NAH, plato & his staff saw this, feeling that this article would defame plato, they decided to DELETED all articles about the logs ticket between mick and plato's staff and made an EXCUSE to delete them with a FP gift.(flamming reasons.... )
yes, this is getting ridiculous, plato being ridiculous everyday.

I read the article, it implied/said he didn't use a security pin. On the wiki (http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Edit_profile) it says "If your account gets hacked/phished and your safety code is NOT set, in cases where your companies/training grounds get downgraded you will NOT get any support/refund for your lost goods." and has since Oct 2012.
I don't think you understand what is going on.
For one, the admins have shown no respect to a customer who has spent hundreds of pounds on the game. They didn't just leave the customer without gold, but they gave no assurance that the hacker was caught or that this would not happen again. From a business point of view, the customer services team is a disgrace.
Secondly, if the hacker had a brain and a little bit of perseverance, the security code would only slow down the time it took for the hacker to gain access to everything on someone's account. Obviously this is if the hacker actually knows how to hack and isn't just using free tools. If you can crack one password you can crack two.
The customer services team is a number of players who voluntarily help with the micro-management of the game. considering that, the team is pretty damn good in my books.
My assumption is that the guy who hacked him wasn't a pro, probably used a phishing site or something equally low level. If this is the case then, like you said, having a PIN would have protected him.
But I digress, the point is he had no PIN, therefore he receives no help. If he had the PIN and still got hacked then yeah, he would have got help and for good reason.
On that same wiki page it also says "A lot of pages are outdated so don't believe everything you see here." If it was a hard and fast eRepublik rule, wouldn't it be somewhere on the actual eRepublik site, not on a wiki page that contains a disclaimer stating that you shouldn't trust it?
True, it's obscure but they've had that policy for 15 months, they can't go back on it for one player because there was an outcry. Like, they legitimately cannot help him if that is their policy because all those who fell foul before him would get pissed. The only thing they could do would be to say they will help in future cases but that wouldn't stop any of you from kicking up this fuss, would it?
i told ya, if you didn't read the article that mick cain, you wouldn't understand even a bit.
It is stated that he(mick) uses that SAFETY CODES or PIN. Bear in mind that everytime he made purchases, he would saw his safety codes.
Ofc, everyone will use/make the PIN/SAFETY CODES except idiots and multies. And even the hacker can access mick's acc, the hacker couldn't dissolve his companies (he needs to know his safety codes). But he was able to dissolve the companies.
I said I read the article. I didn't see mick say he used a PIN, if you think he did then either quote the article or ask mick yourself. Reading the logs between him and the admin, it sounded very much like they thought he didn't, hence why they weren't able to help.
Never heard of "safety code" it's not plainly obvious ; so it could be construed as partial blame for game
management.

The only reason I didn't sign is that I'm uncomfortable putting my RL address into the site. Regardless, I hope it gets enough signatures!
You dont need to put your address, it should work anyway
