I'll Be Gone

Day 2,900, 09:33 Published in USA USA by Gnilraps

Dear eUSA,

I’ll Be Gone

Today I face the final week of my term as your benevolent Dictator and Country President.

I’d like to look back on the good we’ve accomplished, perhaps reflect on some of it, and then make an announcement.

Each time I’ve run for and won a leadership-related election in this game (I’m thinking about PP and CP), I’ve always tried to bring some fresh ideas with me. I am not, despite the testimony of my profile, a medal whore. I like to play the game, and if I’m going to be a party or country leader, I want to do something with my office.

This time it was FeMU.

Truthfully, I was greatly anticipating a wider participation of FeMU, so I feel like there is more work to be done to make it more fun for everyone. I’ve actually got some sekrit ideas for doing just that. I also just hired DMJ to tighten up our Spreadsheet infrastructure, so I am hopeful that the additional attention to the “back end” of FeMU will make the “front end” even more interesting to even more of you. I will feel like FeMU has been truly successful when we’ve got over 50 participants.

So while I’m proud of our our administration’s introducing of FeMU, I am not satisfied that it was an outrageous success. I intend to keep pushing FeMU to make it great.

Then there was Twtich.

Many of you caught the live stream hosted by ClopoyaurTV. If you did, you got to watch several upper-level Government wonks discuss life, the universe, and everything. And by “everything”, I’m talking about the “secret beverage” in Jude Connors’ “coffee” mug.

Clopoyaur is a fantastic interviewer, and though English is a “second language” for him, he was able to hang with 5 or 6 English-speaking yahoos while we gave away tanks, discussed the inner-workings of the eUS Government, and made fun of Aramec (until we discovered that it was more fun to make fun of Yui).

Having the eUSA Government address the eRepublik population on a platform like Twitch was an historical first and it was an outrageous success. We are now working on ways to produce a Twitch-like stream of our own so that future Governments can make use of this fantastic and engaging platform.

Then there was Spain.

Wiping Spain was not really the victory I was after. Don’t get me wrong, wiping them and denying them Congress was a fine accomplishment of my Administration, and eUSA ended up with 71 Regions for the first time in history. Quite an accomplishment it was.

But there was a bigger prize I was after. In the past, eUSA has been criticized for being an insular and selfish ally. Translation: not a very good one. Our repuation is that while we may spend money and focus rallying around our own battles, when it comes to supporting allies we seem to be the weak link. But throughout the month of my leadership, eUSA has been an active and engaged ally to all of those nations in need.

Without going into great details, we spent cash, set battle priorities, and (what would ordinarily be cconsidered as) inconvenienced ourselves for the sake of Finland, Slovenia, Argentina, Greece, France, and Portugal. We did this at great expense, but the reward of such commitment is a strengthened bond and an improved image worldwide. This was the victory I was after during the Spain war, and I am extremely proud of our team for achieving it. eUSA was NOT the weak link in October. This was an outrageous success.

Those are the major accomplishments that I’ll remember from this fantastic month as your leader. We’ve gotten a few other decent things accomplished that are meritorous. Most of them have been chronicled in the WHPR. (I also think that the record will show that my Administration has produced the greatest volume of worthwhile media of any CP term in eUS History.)

But I am done.

That is my announcement. As successful as we have been, as highly functioning as our team has been, (and let me tell you our PDB’s have been a laugh riot of activity and dank posts), and as much energy as I still have for leading the government of our country, I cannot continue into November. I will be moving IRL during the month and have too much pressure on me to do a good job of CP/D.

So I will spend these last 7 days putting the buttons on our work, and leaving the entire office in such highly working order that whomever wins the election on November 5th will hit the ground running.

Thank you for electing me this month. Maybe we’ll do it all again sometime next year.

Sincerely your CP/D
