I feel a wee bit invalidated...

This is pretty weird...

As most of us know, Plato has done a new thingamajig:

The idea behind this update sounded quite interesting before they revealed how the mechanics actually worked, starting revolutions sounded great for a country like the eUK where political bawfests and slander articles get everybody so excited.

For me the political and media modules are what keeps me playing the game. The military module is truly the most ridiculous and crap "feature" in any game I've ever seen. It's just clicking the hell out of one button to push a bar to the other side. I've seen better entertainment from even the most amateurish flash game devs. It's a simple pay to win where if you have a well stacked debit or credit card, you'll win, if you don't, you'll never catch up.

But that's OK.

I understand Plato's reasoning for keeping such a system, it's the only module he can make money off of. (I mean there is the economic module but that's just setting yourself up for military endeavors, really.) I've never needed to use the military module excessively. I do fight if it looks like I can win a BH easily or fancy doing the DO to gain a measly energy bar to get some sort of self-validation, feel I'm doing something useful. Overall though, it's a pile o' crap.

But it's ok cuz I've got me politics and bawwww

The politics and media modules in this game are great. All the terms in that image I have are completely irrelevant, of course. Congress is just a bunch of people arguing over things that don't matter and it's great to just get sucked into it all and then wonder wtf you're doing with your life. The media compliments this nicely, facilitating a place for everybody to have something to baw about.

A big part of all this politics shizznit is elections. Obviously. It's important to try to choose the right people for all the glorious button pushing roles. Party presidents have to put effort into seriously sexy congress lists to woo the population, and people running for the positions of power that are PP spots and CP terms have to take the time to put serious effort into manifestos. You had to try and sway people, and along the way in your political blundering you'd make some friends and 'ave gr8 banter. Actually trying to get people to see your point of view and getting involved chatting to people in your party is what keeps me sane playing this ridiculous game, and the only reason I didn't die within two weeks of starting.

Then this flippin' update popped up

The idea behind it was sound, but the actual mechanics are awful and effectively make my playing of the game completely useless.

Now it's all the goddamn military module that I don't care about. Any old bloke with some dosh can now saunter in and take away everybody's power. Clicking the fight button can now completely bypass the electioneering process.

The way this works, for those that aren't aware, is that any MU commander that decides "ya know what, I fancy unlimited power" can spend 200k to start a revolution. That's it, no challenge or anything. Any old sod can then join his MU to support it, or any MU in the country can decide to support the revolution allowing their members to fight for it. Should a revolution be successful, the new chappie can now bypass mongress and the CP, the whole voting process, and do whatever he fancies. Should he be as rich as the likes of Ser Fartsalot and Alfagrem, he could effectively maintain this power pretty easily.

The 40 or so potential congressmen are now completely irrelevant.

The poor ol' CP candidate that put so much effort into getting himself democratically elected is now completely irrelevant.

The PPs that pick the congress lists are now completely irrelevant.

This makes about 42 people who had stuff to do completely irrelevant, all because of one guy with a nice shiny MU.

So what's the point of politicking at all?

The political module is now literally the military module. Plato has made his least interesting game module the most important thing on the planet. My playing of this game is useless, any work I put into giving myself something to do can be invalidated by any militaryfag, who doesn't have to put that much effort in. So wtf should I keep playing for?

I have spent a total of about 30 euros on this game, which has got me very little progress in Plato's favourite module. I don't plan on spending any more on something I find so dull. However any time I spend doing what I enjoy, running for congress and the occasional bit of PP'ing, can be invalidated instantly by some dudes with lots of money.

The game has gone from the military and economy being pay to win, to the whole damn game becoming pay to win. I don't want to pay. I need money for things that actually matter. (building up my steam library)

Without paying I can't do anything fun, my congress is invalidated by people with money, running for CP is invalidated by people with money. I could run for PP and make a fancy congress list that will then be invalidated by people with bloody money. It's all a complete waste of time, so why bother?

Everything I do can now be effortlessly made pointless by those that do the military module exclusively. So really there's no reason for those like me to bother playing anymore.

Thankfully, our current govt is doing a temporary dictatorship under the glorious reign of Chaz, to give us time to come up with a plan to make sure knobheads don't seize power all the time. So, therefore Imma stick around to see how things play out, but I do wonder what the point in me doing anything in this game is now that this update is out.

Politics is now pointless
This is not the sort of game changing update I wanted
Plato plz

Thank you for slogging it through my waffle, I'm surprised you got this far.
