Groundhog Day revisited.

Tag 1,900, 19:52 Veröffentlicht in Canada Kanada von Ralph Kline

One of my favorite movies is Groundhog Day,it's an 20 year old-movie with Bill Murray. Most of you have probably seen it. Basically, the story is about a egotistical, bitter weather man, sent to a small town to film a news piece about the tradition of the groundhog, coming out of it's winter hibernation and depending on if it sees it shadow or not, predicts how much longer winter will last. The character Phil Connors, through some unknown magic, begins to relive the same day over and over again. At first he is tormented by his situation, but after many repetitions and several suicide attempts, he accepts his fate and begins the arduous task of trying to win the heart of a woman. She rejects him at first, but through his incredible efforts to become a better person, he gets the girl and so the curse is broken.

How ironic it is, that we are all reliving the same day, over and over. We work, train and fight. We battle our enemies, to try to advance out skill levels and our countries resource bonuses. We battle within our own country, politically, to have the chance to lead the nation. We compete in the marketplace, well sort of. That's pretty much a wasted effort, now though.
Point is, it's the same cycle, over and over.
The game changes slightly, but not enough to matter. The game will never really change enough to rise to imagined expectations. This is the bitter reality.

What has to change is how we, how you, how I approach the game.

We can do better, a little bit every day. Realizing the tasks at hand, and working toward them.
Political co-operation across party lines.
Economic co-operation
Military organization
Media cultivation and promotion

Nobody gets out of erep alive, let's work together and stop making the same mistakes, stop fighting over how and start working on now!

Join the MDP today!

Plugson Tag 1,900, 20:05

Didn't he break the cycle by getting the woman into bed finally? (at least that's what I drew from the movie)

So who do we have to get into bed with around here to break ours?

TemujinBC Tag 1,900, 20:06

I'm willing to sleep with Plugson in order to break this vicious cycle

Your article is right where I'm at. Though why you conclude one should join any party (let alone MDP) as a result of your argument, is beyond me.

To me, the logical conclusion is to quit.

Wow Ralph, this is a moving piece of journalism. This is a pleasant surprise for me. Like Wilhelm, I'm there, I'm more inclined to quit than to ally with a political demographic.

Like E.T., "Be good"

Ralph is really good at calling for things like Unity...

Unfortunately, His history shows him aligning with such people as Ethel Rosenberg, CFovetS, and the CPP - As well as that same lot in the EPC... Fighting and Tanking AGAINST eCanada...

Cool article, but I got a prediction about eCanada: it's gonna be cold, it's gonna be gray, and it's gonna last...for the rest...of our lives.
