Governance

Historically, people have struggled for power. Every shift in society has been the subject in a shift in power whether large or small, in a conflict between two nations or within the confines of a nation. While other landmarks are found sporadically throughout human history, nothing quite compares to the power struggles, bloody or otherwise. I personally believe that a whole additional element is added when you begin to factor in the competitive nature and gravity of watching other people compete both in the moment and in retrospect.

A goal of modern government is to limit the amount of power struggle in the grand scheme of humanity by manufacturing smaller conflicts that have boundaries and rules so that no one person or conglomerate of people can have absolute power over everyone under their jurisdiction for an extended period of time. This theory isn't always put into practice but it is the foundation on which a successful government stands and no government that practices this theory does so without fault.

I welcome discussion regarding power struggles.

Until next time,
