Fireside Chat

Day 2,423, 09:30 Published in Canada United Kingdom by Leo Balzac

Welcome to the first in my new series of articles, The Fireside Chat. During this series I will select one incredibly lucky eWorld citizen to sit in the comfy chair by the fire and have a nice, civilized chat. Most of the time.

The Guest

The inaugural guest in this series is a player not very well known to me, I only began speaking to him a few weeks ago on IRC (Sidenote: Y'all should try out this IRC thing if you haven't. It's easy and you get to meet and know more and different players. PM me if you're unsure of how to access it and want some help). So let's sit down, pour ourselves a cup of coffee/tea/hot chocolate/whatever and chat with The Anaconda:

Leo: Welcome The Anaconda, your name is a bit of a mouthful, mind if I call you TA?

The Anaconda: Great to be here Leo, go ahead.

Leo: How did you come to play eRep in the beginning?

TA: I was playing another online game with a Portuguese friend who introduced me to this

Leo: How long have you been in eCanada and what was it that first brought you here?

TA: I joined eCanada about two months ago, I wanted to start playing politics and since I'm a Canadian I came to do it in eCanada

Leo: Interesting, tell me how has your time in eCanada been so far?

TA: It has been interesting, some people have lots of pent up frustration

Leo: Hmm, perhaps Temujin knows of a way to help relieve all that pent up frustration. I'm intruiged TA, what is your favourite food/drink combo?

TA: KBBQ! Not fussy with the drink

Leo: I'm going to assume you mean Korean Barbecue. It is indeed excellent. As a man who used to live in Korea Town, I applaud your taste. Why did you make the unauthorized counter-NE proposal?

TA: Isn't it conventional to NE a usually hostile country that NE'd you first? At least that's what all the other countries in eRep do. Dunno why its different in eCanada. Or maybe the reaction was just because it was me that did it.

Leo: Did you know it was against the Congressional Rules of Order to do so?

TA: I knew that starting a proposal without bringing it up in congress got some people's pants wet but I didn't think I was starting any proposal, I was just responding to the eUK's own NE.

Leo: Mmmm, wet pants. Do you think the punishment was fitting considering your violation of the rules?

TA: Forum ban as a congressman for 48h. Don't know what gave them the right to take away an elected official's position away from him, that wouldn't happen in rl. And if I remember correctly, two of CPF's congressmen did make two rogue proposals about minimum wage and taxes but nothing happened to them. One rule for some and one for others I guess.

Leo: Speaking to the eCanadian populace at large, what do you have to say for yourself; regarding your actions?

TA: I think the eCanadian populace knows that I did the right thing and won't be bothered by this crusade against the UF and me

Leo: As an important member of the United Front, why do you think members of the Government, including the CP, have been so forceful in branding your party traitorous?

TA: As I told them in the group PM, 'more people worship the rising sun than the setting sun. And yours is a sun that is giving away its last twinkle before sinking in the sea'. They just feel threatened or maybe guilty that they weren't first to protect eCanadian interests.

Leo: A secret Congress PM huh? I wonder what they're hiding in there that isn't fit for CDC. That aside, what treasonous actions have UF taken?

TA: If doing my job as a congressman is a crime then yea, guilty as charged

Leo: Seriously though, you guys must have done something, what was it?

TA: We haven't done anything except stand up for what we believe in and don't deserve to have this mass hysteria from the CPF against us

Leo: Who is the greatest eCanadian of all time?

TA: I'm not sure, its got to be Rolo Tahmasee no? It says so on his profile!

Well, there you have it folks, the first fireside chat completed. I must say that I am surprised at these allegations of extreme hostility at a party, and player that seemed to have the best interests of the Nation at heart. Stay tuned for the next in the series as we chat with more people from around the eWorld.
