I didn't say you won't get FPs, but you won't be banned.
It's possible to get FPs and rarely the occasional tempban, but unless you participate in a wide-scale rebellion (see http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/2011_eRepublik_Rebellion) and the admins seek to make an example of you, you won't get perma'ed assuming you buy a healthy amount of gold.
People can all it a double standard if they want, but really, we're playing a "free-to-play" game that, for the most part, is floated by large gold-buyers. If you ask me, it's just business sense not to alienate the people who pay your bills.
I remember the great rebellion well. In fact, I still have the old IRC logs from it. Good times, good times.
