End of Congress term.

Day 2,472, 00:04 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 6times5is30

My month in congress ended yesterday, and to improve accountability I made this here list of the way that I voted and why. It's dull, but someone somewhere might be interested and it's good to get it out there.

Day 2440
Change import tax on food to 1%
No, because I think we need to protect our domestic producers
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/146553

Day 2440
Change work tax to 8%
No, because normal people would make less money working (myself included 😛), and the govt seems to have a habit of misplacing cash we give them anyway
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/146554

Day 2444
MPP with USA
Yes, USA are pro-sirius and this is merely an extention of one that's running out
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/146811

Day 2445
VAT increase on weapons
No, I'm in the mindset that money that is with the govt isn't safe enough to risk stockpilling it, we're running a balanced book at the moment and we don't need higher taxes.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/146858

Day 2447
MPP with Macedonia
Yes, just an extention on an existing pact
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/146918

Day 2447
MPP with Croatia
Yes, just an extention on an existing pact with a member of sirius
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/146935

Day 2452
NE against france
Yes, I had initially hoped that we might NE norway, but really i'm happy that anyone was NE'd, france is occupied at the moment, so easy battles and hopefully extra bonuses. This one also ties in with the 'how to raise an empire' event, as we need someone to get BH's against and to get TP damage against.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147120

Day 2454
NE against Norway
Yes, this is the NE I was hoping for, WayneKerr organised this one and as I said earlier it's for the 'how to raise an empire' event. My article relating to this one: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/well-now-what--2421836/1/20
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147172

Day 2455
MPP with Indonesia
Yes, just an extention on an existing pact
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147224

Day 2457
MPP with Ukraine
Yes, just an extention on an existing pact with a member of sirius
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147287

Day 2457
Work tax change from 2% to 1%
Yes. This has been a contentious one, and it's been the only one i've seen real debate about in the congress PMs. I'll try and fill you in on my decision making. The main reason I put the idea forward for this one in the first place is that is was pointed out that it's our party policy to have a work tax of 1%, this makes players more money when they work and brings us away from the dangerous situation where someone can lose money by working and selling their goods. It all round improves growth and helps players to turn a profit and reinvest. At the time of proposal however, the UK had just been robbed silly by BigAnt, so it was difficult to say if we should try and build some cash. I eventually voted yes to the change for a few reasons: 1) It's party policy 2) All the cash we stack up seems to go missing and 3) I didn't think the effect would be as great as a halving in tax take as many people have also supported a rise in import taxes that may be voted on soon. We'll see how the vote on this on turns out, it's a difficult one to know the right position on without in-game tax analytics.

*edit: The debate has continued, and I have to confess that despite the position of the party I do now regret the way I have voted. A good point is that this process is easily reversible if the UK runs into financial trouble, and gold stocks can also be sold. There is also talk of cutting the MPP stack so that might help. I support a cut in Work tax in the interest of the people, but I don't know if we'll be financially viable now. Tis hard.

Day 2458
MPP with Turkey
Yes. Continuation of an MPP with a member of sirius.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147340

Day 2458
Work tax change from 2% to 1%
Yes. If this pushes the govt into non-profitability then it can be easily raised again, but at the moment players make a loss on some WRM production, which is the main source of income for most people. See this article: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-minister-of-trade-amp-industry-congress-or-mongress--2423396/1/20
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147379

Day 2469
MPP with Latvia
Yes. Work tax got rejected again so we can afford it. Merely a continuation of an existing MPP.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147415

Day 2460
Work tax change from 2% to 1%
Yes. Same reasons as last time, third times the charm eh?
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147481

Day 2462
MPP with Poland
yes. I don't really have to explain this one
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147575

Day 2462
Mpp with Bulgaria
Yes. MPP's are good.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147590

Day 2463
Import tax on food up to 8%
Yes. UKPP policy is for import tax to be 99%, which I don't personally agree with but this is within a reasonable boundary and I did agree to it at the start of term.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147623

Day 2464
Mpp with Germany
Yes. Mmmmmm MPP's.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147680

Day 2467
Mpp with lithuania
Yes. Continuation of MPP.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147811

Day 2469
MPP with spain
Yes. Spain are bros.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147897

Day 2469
NE against sweden.
Yes. They NE'd us, so I suspect we shall be needing it.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147914

Day 2470
Transfer 150K to Bank of England
Yes. Clears it up for next congress, and I trust huey.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147972

Day 2470
Issue 100000K for 500 gold
Yes. Again, clears it for next congress and huey (who proposed it) is trustworthy.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/United-Kingdom/147973

As I said, very dull. It was a good month in congress, I didn't run again due to personal time out of the game in the coming month. Best of luck to the next lot.
