DT: Final Campaign Address

Day 1,049, 17:29 Published in Ireland Japan by Donovan Thomas

As the last few hours of the pre-election festivities wind down I would assume that about everyone has made up their mind who they support.

For some it will be a partisan decision. For some, just a question of who you like and dislike. For many other’s it will come down to trusting the word of my opponent (who while claiming that joining EDEN is one of his highest priorities neither engaged in the debate on the subject nor voted on it) or trusting the word of A President, Former President, Former Vice President and two MoDs who have helped nurse eIreland back from yet another disaster.

While thinking of writing this article I went looking for Mr. Rath’s recent contribution to the Dáil to hopefully put a positive spin on this otherwise negative campaign. Even I was shocked. Mr. Rath has only participated in the Dáil one day (today) in the last week. This is verifiable by any citizen by checking his posts in the national forum. Is this the level of activity that we can expect from him as President?

Many of the allegations surrounding my opponent anger his supporters. This is understandable, especially by those loyal to him. I myself was angered when instead of opening his campaign with his own platform and ideas Mr. Rath instead chose to attack the administration of which he was a member.

I have been asked why I have not denounced these allegations against Mr. Rath. Simple; The cabinet has been aware of Mr. Rath’s inequities since long before he announced his bid for the presidency. This is one of the reasons he had certain authorities confiscated. Were it otherwise, I might feel differently. But I do not trust Mr. Rath and so it goes.

I have asked Mr. Rath a pointed question on numerous occasions and it remains one that I shall ask one last time with more detail since he seems to ignore it each time (I expect the same this time).

Mr. Rath, if throughout the last month while you were a member of the cabinet you came across so many glaring problems that you based your initial manifesto on them and then continued to criticize the cabinet;

What did you do to work with the cabinet and solve those problems for the good of eIreland?

Mr Rath has claimed insult that I have called him a common military term (Blue Falcon) for his lack of contributions, lack of teamwork, and lack of support. I stand by my opinion for I still do not see what Mr. Rath did to support the team he had the honor of serving with this past month.

When things started to spiral out of control and the daggers began to fly in earnest I pm’d Mr. Rath pledging an end to hostilities hoping we could salvage the days left and soldier on with our campaigns.

Mr. Rath pointedly ignored this.

In summation:

I desire to be your President. I desire to help keep this country on the upward trend begun by Nogin and her staff and wish to continue to work with that staff and all who desire to do the hard work to make eIreland better (regardless of party affiliation).

I have made no promise to any party. I have offered no position in return for votes. I have not mass mailed citizens nor made excuses. I have made mistakes in my time and will again for I am fallible.

I hope that you will help me avoid those mistakes and lend solutions to the challenges we face. It is my desire to represent you and your desires at the highest level with dedication and verve.

In my time in eIreland I have served six different administrations under the following offices:

- First IDF Field Commander
- Vice President of eIreland
- Congressman for Northern Ireland
- Minister Of Defence [x4]
- Minister of Intelligence [x2]
- Congressman for Dublin [x2]
- Minister of Information
- Ceann Comhairle [currently awaiting confirmation for a second term]
- CO, Na Fianna
- Ambassador to Peru and Venezuela
- Vice Party President, Independent Voices
- Party President of Guardians of Ireland
- Most Trusted Politician, Apr, 2010
- Most Acclaimed Publisher, Sept, 2009

I have assisted in numerous projects to reduce the size of our government, decrease bureaucracy and increase efficiency. While in congress I have never missed a vote.

In the end, these are just numbers and words. This is a game after all and many of us play it with our emotions on our sleeves (I’ve been guilty of this on numerous occasions). The main goal for each of us is to have fun.

I’ll close by wishing each candidate luck in their endeavors. I hope each of us can attain the maximum amount of entertainment value from this game while increasing it’s enjoyment for others, especially the eIrish people.

Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

-Donovan Thomas
Candidate for Country President
