DT CP Run: Clarification and Rebuttal

Clarification and Rebuttal

I’d like to start off by saying thank you to Saorise and Independent Voices for pledging their support for me as candidate for CP. Your calm and measured support is admirable as is your professionalism.
[Note: Mirek12345 has informed me that he was either hacked or there was a bug and that he has not indicated support for a specific candidate]

I’d also like to thank those that have been not only supportive, but also gracious in their private messages pledging their support even if they are crossing party lines to do so. Your courage in thinking outside the box and looking for solutions instead of just identifying problems without furthering the process is noted and will not be forgotten. The fact that it is not safe for you to publicly do so while remaining a ‘loyal’ member of your party is understood. Your pm’s are still none the less heartening and appreciated.

Your love for eIreland outshines the close-minded views of the public face of your parties and I know your actions represent the whole more so than the few that would claim to speak for you. Thank you.

It has been an interesting few days and we have seen a couple players who have provided little in the last month in the way of support to our e-nation rise to spew ‘fire and forget’ vitriol. We have also seen those who wish to lead while only providing scathing commentary without viable solutions.

Of this I will say the following and be specific;

Of Nithraldur’s article, I can only say; Fair Play.

Nith is more than welcome to his opinion, in fact, I implore each and every citizen to represent his or her own opinion and represent it in the most passionate manner possible.

I don’t think it is too much to ask one to provide proof for any claims made and since the great majority of Nith’s article is opinion and conjecture I can’t comment on the whole of it other than to say that I that perhaps if he had fought in more than two battles and a total of eight fights during V2 he might have had a better grasp on what the DoD could have done for him. Participation is key after all.

Of Connell Rath’s Claims I say the following;

First I say shame on Connell Rath. My call to shame comes from the clear and present fact that Mr. Rath was a member of the same cabinet of which I am a member. I cannot count a single private message from Mr. Rath where any of his alleged claims of failure have been brought to my attention. I fear that none of my fellow cabinet members nor the CP or VP have received any other such message.

It would seem that while Mr. Rath calls for ‘change’ he was part of the same administration that he condemns. Worse, he had access to the orgs and the IRC that he claims could have solved such problems. At no time did Mr. Rath signal his fellow cabinet members to the solutions to the problems that he claims to be the single key holder of.

To hold back information that could make the team, let alone eIreland stronger (especially only to aid you in later political endeavors) makes you not an agent of change but a saboteur and enemy of the people.

That makes Mr. Rath less of a revolutionary thinker than a Blue Falcon, in my opinion.

The Bottom Line

Things did not run at 100% at all times in the last month. This is a fact. Especially in the disheartening hours of the invasion of NI.

This is as much my responsibility as it is that of Anthony Colby, my running mate and current Co-Minister of Defence. I shall not let him stand along and take bullets that are aimed at me as well.

For those who fought hard to win what we could, it was a sad and emotional night. As it became more and more clear that not only was the battle lost from the outset but that many of our people were asleep at the trigger (these people were not the elected leadership as some would have you think) it became even more disheartening. We were caught with our pants down and with no arms to pull them up.

It is true that I lacked the password to one of the DoD orgs that held Helicopters. This is an oversight which I should be held accountable for. I should have been more proactive. I know better.

What has not been mentioned is that in the 8 hours I was in the IRC and the five battles that I fought in that I was only asked for one single weapon. It is very much a shame that I could not provide that weapon. Had the person asking for it not been logging off at the time I would have purchased it myself.

But that is beside the point. Claims have been made by a previous MoD that weapons should be handed out to the eIrish people willy nilly without count or cost. I say they should not. If you want welfare without accountability then you should not vote for me.

Weapons should be handed out to active members who make at least the minimum effort to be a part of the team. Further, they should only be handed out when they are able to aid in the defence of the Republic and not just because one has 'paid their taxes'.

An already lost battle is NOT the time to hand out weapons.

There is no current account of who did or did not fight in the invasion of NI. I can tell you who was or was not in any of the irc channels in the eight hours that I was present. I can also tell you who I passed on over 400 health points of donated food to. I can tell you who all the BH’s are of the first five battles. Because I was there with them.

I doubt Mr. Rath can do the same.

In the end this election will come down to personal preference. In many cases it will come down to partisan politics and personal favors.

But not on my end. I have made no promises, and shall make none. I do not claim to be the only one with the answer, but merely one who is willing to stand and take the responsibility for the questions that may arise in the future.

If elected I shall not tear down the walls of this republic to build them in my own image and ideology. I shall shore them up and help them stand in the image that you the voter desire.

Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

-Donovan Thomas
