DoI1: What's the Story with eFarming?

Day 2,607, 07:29 Published in Australia Australia by eAus Department of Information

A bit of intro first-- As you may know, I was appointed Deputy Minister of Education and Entertainment in Rusty D's administration. While I am grateful for the trust shown by a number of people (you know who you are), I am also feeling like a wee tiny fish in a big ocean-- so your patience and input is appreciated. I will try to put out some useful and not terminally boring articles here in accordance. Now onto our subject for the day...

I recently PM’d Rusty D, our eAustralian CP, and J Seemore, our MoF, to find out about the eFarming initiative. They were both most helpful, and here are the basics of what I learned (I reserve the right to go into more detail in future):

The eFarming scheme gives bonuses to enrolled eAustralian producers, who then pass on the subsidies to employees who are reliable and work seven days each week. Salaries may be moderate for those employees, but the bonus of one gold per week from the eAus government (transferred through the employers) makes it a very nice chunk of change.

I asked what the benefits of this program are to eAustralia, and I got a fairly long list: a source of gold for new players, discounts (for both workers and the government) on items produced under the scheme (food and weapons), and improvements in eFarmers’ ability to plan and to manage their companies efficiently.

However, both Rusty D and J Seemore stressed that the greatest benefits of eFarming relate to community. The worker (and I am one myself) does not get just a job, and pay plus gold— they gain a mentor in the game, and both the reason and ability to become more involved.

The eFarming initiative is just getting off the ground, and more participation is encouraged. Rusty D wrote that he would happily have more workers at his eFarms. Though the daily cash wage there is on the low side, he more than compensates by matching the gold bonus (thus two gold per week). PM him if you are interested or have new ideas (also see links below).

This scheme seems like a win/win/win arrangement for eAussie workers, employers, and the government. As J Seemore wrote so eloquently, “lt [eFarming] is like building a new neighbourhood… Together, we can cast strong and deep foundations for our community.”

Please feel free to PM JackTrout with story ideas or things you’d like to know more about. Strangely enough, the eAustralian government is here to serve its citizens. 25 Q4 food from me for the first suggestion I use. Cheers, JT
