Dirty deeds are done dirt cheap

Day 1,406, 07:08 Published in Ireland Ireland by Sweet Drinker

As announced yesterday I am running for CP this October.

Ofc I'll need cabinet members! Do you wish to be part of that cabinet?

I've been around long enough to know that we often see the same people in cabinet roles repeatedly (myself included) simply because with a community as small as ours there aren't that many people willing/able to do the work.

I don't have a problem with that.

I won't be a bit surprised if my cabinet is composed mainly of people who have served in their roles before. However that doesn't mean I'm not looking for someone better!

If you feel you can bring greater commitment, knowledge or innovation to a ministry, then PM me ingame or Sw33t on IRC (I'm always lurking there).

It's well known that the game mechanics are stacked against us. What is perhaps less known is that we haven't begun to suffer the real consequences of those disadvantages. Without a dramatic shift in the way we work with the game mechanics, in October we will..

As such, I place a premium on innovation & commitment. Knowledge and experience are good. But the truth is much of our knowledge base is outdated. Many ministerial posts are quickly 'trained into' provided a newcomer is committed to the task. And I'm really looking for people who can think outside the box.

Devising solutions to some of the problems that plague us has put me so far outside the box, it looks like a dot now!

SUPER-MASSIVE DISCLAIMER SECTION:

*I open 100's of erep pages daily and am notoriously demanding. If your not willing to do a lot of work.... it's better not to have been Minister, than to be one that got kicked out.

*"I'd like to be a Minister" doesn't constitute an application. Tell me what position you desire, and what you can bring to it.

*"I'll get you my party's support if..." won't even be considered. I've no interest in 'selling' positions for favours, and I wouldn't sell them so cheap anyway. This isn't the 18th century British Army 😛

*There are no fluff positions available this month.

*The position you desire may not exist anymore. Some examples:

NiB-Governor (a position I've held) IS NOT A REAL POSITION. Bank Governor was a role devised by SHM when he was MoF because he recognized (very wisely) that in the political climate of that time potentials for grief could be eliminated if he was exempt from accusation by not having bank access. THAT WAS THE ONLY TIME THIS POSITION WAS VALID. As such I'm mothballing it.

Vice President As patton told me years ago; "The VP position is a title given to rival party members in exchange for support". In over a year of ministry service I've not seen patton's claim disproved. A VP can't 'press the button' that needs pressing in the CP's absence (unless they have the CP's acc details, which is viewed as multying). Is the VP an advisor to the CP? Advice on what? We appoint advisers who excel in their specialized fields, they're called Ministers! Besides that, why does the CP rate the VP's advice above that of any other citizen?! I'll happily take advice from ANYONE, even an enemy, if it's good advice.
And as I'm not interested in trading for political support, VP mothballed.

*Be suited to the role your applying for. ie: You want to be Foreign Affairs Minister. Yet I've never seen you on IRC...

*You won't be granted a position merely because I like you.

*You won't be denied a post merely because I don't like you/don't know you

*Many positions require google docs. Know them, love them (be prepared to despise them after a month)

*You may be tasked with tedious chores that seem pointless to you. I routinely compile quantities of data I don't actually have a use for on the off chance it may eventually reveal some useful info. (It's thanks to some of this 'useless' data that I expect to accomplish a lot next month)

*My loyalty is to the Republic, not the ministers. You burn them.. I burn you

*Most of the work we do is never seen by most of the people. So don't expect much glory or honour for getting your hands dirty, just the occasional thank you.
Ministry work really is mostly Dirty Deeds, and you do them Dirt Cheap.

*If this article was tl;dr for you, you probably don't want to work closely with me -_^

I apologize for the painfully stern tone of this article. I'm actually a nice guy (and yes, Sw33t's a bloke lol). but we are in a very deep hole, and I want no illusions. We have to play some serious erep to get out of it. Hopefully I haven't discouraged you from applying if you were considering applying.
