Countdown to The Great Robbery

Day 1,793, 14:57 Published in Ireland Ireland by Death and Taxes

I haven't written an article for a while, so I'll kill two birds in one stone, write an article and clarify the actions and communications up to sawc stealing 2 million from Ireland.

20 Days ago Picked up sawc acting weirdly in IRC. Lots of conversations about having heart attacks and other drama queen symptoms. For reference, individuals that bring in RL issues into gaming is fine under most circumstances, but when they are OTT and designed to maximise a response, it's usually a sign of instability and a problem in differentiating between fact and fiction.

19 Days ago Circular sent around by PM to trusted individuals highlighting amongst other things, the potential danger if sawc becomes CP.

18 Days ago First solid evidence that sawc has had multiple lives pre-dating Sir William Arthur Currie. As a consequence, PM is sent to the ILP warning them of the potential danger in sawc becoming CP

Response from ILP is obviously confidential but I believe it's fair to say that the response was on the lines that the candidate was chosen on party lines and procedures, and would be difficult to change owing to the fact that the evidence was anecdotal.

16 days ago Another individual in the circular contacts the ILP and repeats the accusations against sawc, receives same response. Third member of the circular writes a far more detailed review of sawc to the ILP including a detailed chronology but to no avail.

15 days ago With no actions forthcoming, there is little choice but to release this article. Perhaps it was too subtle, I certainly didn't try to disguise what the article was about too much, apart from a bit mud-flinging.

As a direct consequence of this article, Damhnaic (I have been informed) wrote another article critical of sawc, this article was later deleted.

14 days ago sawc is either removed as candidate by the ILP or else relinquishes his candidature.

12 days ago sawc robs 2 million in funds from the government, theft is noticed 'on the go' and DreadedEstate manages to remove 1 million before it too, disappears.

Questions:

What was the purpose of the circular? The individuals were concerned that if sawc became CP he would steal from the government and in doing so, we could not get our money back

Who did we contact in the ILP? Obviously not enough people, and the main issue was the disappearance of B&T owing to RL issues, which no-one at that time was aware of

Why didn't the ILP act sooner and how come sawc still has access to the orgs? That's a tricky one, ultimately though, the ILP in my opinion are a very honourable, do-it-by-the-book party of principle, and only the article was going to make a change, which in fairness it did.

The access to the orgs is also understandable. B&T was not around to clarify who had access to what. Numerous people have given completely different versions of how the whole situation came about.

In short, confusion, lack of communication and a new administration allowed a perfect storm for sawc to take advantage which he duly did.

So no-one's responsible then? No, I have to take responsibility for not acting fully on my instincts. The ILP allowed themselves to be taken in by a con-man and need to grow-up and stop fantasising about idealism.

Anything else? Yes, the hypocrites that have attacked the ILP need to look themselves in the mirror, seeing that most of them have stolen funds from the government before and/or idly sat by while it happened.

It would also be nice if people stopped using a crime for political advantage.

What about meow2, haven't you suggested he was in on the deal? I did, primarily on the way the hacked orgs were used to release paid-for articles undermining the State, they seemed excessively pro-Israeli.

However, meow2 has contacted me directly and wants to say on the record that although he considers sawc a good friend, he had no hand or part in the theft. As the evidence is flimsy at best, I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and withdraw that accusation with an apology.

Last words? That people were right, we had no chance of getting the money back. That there is still a lot to learn about the game and that certain values and certain ideals are irrelevant compared to the well-being of the State. I do hope that people will move on now and get on with life.

The next CP election should be very entertaining...
