Hello Ireland. Odds are, many of you probably remember me from some time ago, when I was much more active in the community. For those of you that are new, or just happen to not remember me, well, too damn bad for you. Kidding, kidding.

Initial Observations
After being away for so long, I've noticed quite a few changes. For one, I've been informed that while I was gone, Ireland fought off two foreign airstrikes. Way to go guys! On a more serious note, I have noticed that Aurora and Sirius no longer exist. Instead, we're a part of... Banana? Really? And for the alliance description... just a bunch of people dancing, one of whom is showing his ass to everyone. Please tell me this is going to change at some point... please? Still, I'm glad to see that other, more official alliances are still around, such as Pacifica, Root, and Asteria.

On the more negative side, I see that some things are still the same around here. People are still bashing each other in the newspapers, and they're still arguing about stupid things in the Dáil threads. From the looks of it, Omega Eireann and the Independent Labour Party are going at it, with ILP President Colin Fox calling out several members of Omega Eireann for use of foul language and trying to discourage debate. In a recent article (which has by now been taken down), the ILP President published several transcripts of discussions in the Dáil thread, something that was met with widespread criticism from Omega Eireann members. And then, as always, Releasethe Krakken is here to outdo both of them by making jokes about Eire Aonair Dáil Member Anthony Colby's daughter... stay classy RTK. In all seriousness, come on guys, we're all better than this. At least, I'd like to hope so.

My Opinion
First off, lets at least try to work together. I remember back in the old days, when Ireland was occupied by the British, and we were fighting nonstop for our freedom, with the help of America, France, and Croatia, along with much of the world. These were honestly some of our best times in my opinion. We worked together well, we had something to drive us, and we had a pretty damn impressive commune system. The question of alliances drove legitimate debate, and we took part in resistance wars throughout the world. Now we're just trolling each other. From anyone that remembers this article from over a year ago, my opinion on trolling is very apparent: it's stupid and immature. Seriously guys, knock it off.

As for our alliances, I suggest that we get out of Banana and try something more serious. Maybe we could try to create our own alliance. Personally, I'd like it if we pulled together all of our old allies, such as the US, France, Croatia, Chile, Italy, and so on. Even better would be a socialist alliance, although for those who tend to lean towards the gameplay side of things rather than the roleplay side, this might not be as logical. While we're talking about socialism, it might be a good idea to get the communes up and running again. They inspired people to fight, it provided more money and supplies for the average worker than operating their own businesses, and it was more successful than a nationwide commune would probably be expected to be. It might just be the leftist in me, but I think it's worth going back to.

In Other News...
...I'm planning on running for Dáil with the Independent Labour Party, assuming I'm accepted as one of their candidates of course. If elected, I'd hope to be able to help bring people together, and make sure that things actually get done in our government. Of course, I'm going to try that regardless of whether I actually have a Dáil position, but it'll be much easier with a place in the government. So vote for the ILP in this coming Dáil election.
