An Anti-Dictatorship Manifesto - A Letter from the Editor of the True North Standard

--An Anti-Dictatorship Manifesto--
I am writing today to publicly voice my opposition to the dictatorship and to address the negative attitudes some of the 'pro-democracy side' seems to exhibit.
First off I offer this analysis of Rylde. I have done a few interviews with Rylde over my past few weeks of starting out in this game. I think its important to note his pragmatism or 'take no prisoners' style. The people who like him, like him because he gets shit done and uses every tool available to him to do it. The importance of his ruthless organizational skills cannot be overstated as the pro-democracy side is, in my opinion, undermined in the eyes of its detractors by a lack of focus, activity and vision for eCanada.
When oppressed by Government, Rylde utilized government itself.
"...So we began funneling a few members into congress monthly to give our 50-60 or so soldiers a voice in govt. After that it just expanded into wanting to get the basics of running the country to rule with an iron fist." - Rylde
Rylde incentivizes congressional activity and enforces consequences when his congressmen dont do their work.
"When I'm on my game and the driving force behind a project you can be damn sure there will be accountability to my congressmen. We had 15 run this month and only 12 got in. That means there's 3 spots for this months slackers if it happens." - Rylde
Rylde made an investment in his dictatorship bid a long time ago
"As you may have noticed, I set CAF to fight for the dictatorship. This was my payment to Rylde for some 100k+ CO money to fight Germany in the opening battle a couple months ago after thumping Italy." - Xichael, CAF Commander
These are a few of the public records illustrating what I mean. Rylde very wisely utilizes every tool at his disposal and thinks outside the box as his default thought process. It is my opinion that anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.
I point this out because it is up to those who are pro-democracy to match this style of ruthlessness. If the pro-democracy side is to be victorious against the dictatorship and its faithfuls we will need to utilize every tool available, It will involve thinking farther outside the box. It will involve out-matching a formidable organizational wit.
Is that boring? is that worth leaving the game over? I dont believe so.
I call upon the Pro-Democracy side to cast out any negative feelings about the effects dictatorship has on the game and to put personal feelings aside to instead focus on the learning experience that is organizing the revolution (should it come to that, recognizing that many people are saying it will) and matching wits with a very capable antagonist.
Remember that involving people in responsibilities and writing informative articles (that for example: help new players know to leave CAF to fight for democracy) will not only prove that pro-democracy is a viable alternative to a dictatorship but also strengthen our democracy as a whole. Remember that we all want what is best for eCanada, some are perceivably arrogant enough to believe that they alone have the best vision for our Country but it is the responsibility of those who believe in democracy and inclusion-ism to stand up and champion their beliefs.
In summary: It is the responsibility of those who hold beliefs to embody and champion their beliefs in a 'lead by example' spirit.
I hope the pro-democracy side will hear this as a rallying call to organize and include as many people as possible in the process, I hope the pro-dictatorship side will respect my ideological(not emotional) stance against them, I hope that everyone will work together to make eCanada better whatever the outcome.

Damn it. Good writing such as this deserves more votes and more comments.
Agreed. Here's an extra comment, and since I cannot vote up the article more, I'll just vote your comment. 😛
Democracy can never match ruthlessness.
The reason the Dictatorship works is because it is able to act and react swiftly, while democracy must react according to what the polls tell it to do. The Dictatorship is getting shit done while the Democracy is trying to appease and coddle and placate and find some half-assed compromise.
Consider what happened during this coup: instead of fighting back, the Democracy wanted to take polls in ODC to see who all supported it. And then, instead of fighting back, a significant quadrant of the Democracy declared loudly that it would simply lay down and do nothing instead of attempting to achieve their stated goals. Or they opined that they would flee the country. Lots of bitter complaining, finger pointing and empty protest instead of organization or action.
You're right. If you want your precious Democracy back, you're going to have to fight fire with fire. And you cannot do that precisely because of the limitations of the system you wish to re-install.
Be nice to McVicker for a while and maybe he'll buy your beloved Democracy back for you in a few weeks.
We had no access to any funds.
Even if this was a foreign coup against a much Superior enemy our best defense would be to save our major funding for the revolution which along with a huge determination bonus would assure victory.
In a perfect world spending some funds in order to force the enemy to spend as much as possible would of been a good strategy but the revolution is where a country can kick butt.
After dictator is in the office 16 days, determination for revolution is 1.51
After dictator is in the office 31 days, determination for revolution is 2.09.
After dictator is in the office 33 days, determination for revolution is 2.14.
There is no point going back to democracy until we decide as a people we want to prevent this from happening again.
All I see is, "There is no point going back to democracy." And I agree.
Nice article
Nah if Rylde wins, pro-democracy folks just need to be patient, wait for the counter-revolution mechanic to turn in their favour and help people see the long view when they eventually will regain democracy. In the meantime, have fun and blame everything on El Ryldo.
Ah, he already won - sorry, only been checking in sporadically.

Interesting take on Rylde's dictatorship position. Good read.
Indeed, I admire Rylde's commitment and will to see things through.
It's kind of like a freight train going full bore, where the tracks are optional and yet the train keeps going. It is impressive.
And yet sometimes the train reaches its destination, by some miracle.
I do like the fact that comment length can reach the size of the actual article. Just sit back and grab the popcorn.
