A Guide to the eUK: Parties

Day 2,323, 12:54 Published in Australia United Kingdom by MarkTD

Hello, and welcome to another edition of a T(oa)D's Leap into Awesomeness! Well, that's what I would like it to be called, anyway.

Today, I'm doing a party profile, on an eCountry that is very close to both our hearts and blades That's (probably) right, it's the eUK!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I'm documenting the political sphere in that thing. I'm sorry, but for high rewards (15 gold, I mean, come on man) you have to do this kind of stuff. I'm sure you'll all know the danger I was put in whilst visiting the eUK; and I did it all for you! (gold pl0x)

I am going to begin with a few short descriptions of the eUK, all from some of its citizens!

"eUK: Constant bickering mixed in with a dash of apathy" ~WayneKerr (yeah, THAT waynekerr)

"The UK is a dictatorship chocolate coated in years of oppression" ~Commander Dapper (British Army, New Era)

"Years of political feuding came to a head prior to the recent Congressional elections. Mistakes in immigration policy made by two leading political parties allowed a small but determined group of foreign citizens to attempt to stage a political take over of the UK. This threat was successfully blocked during the Congressional elections with only trusted citizens gaining seats. However two historic UK political parties remain compromised and the fight to regain them will begin in earnest during the PP elections. On the war front a fierce battle between the UK and her allies and Finland and her allies continues with Finland currently occupying Scotland and Northern Ireland." (a round up of recent events) ~Huey George (PP of the WRP!)

Those three are quite esteemed members of the eUK, with WayneKerr being that crazy kid who seems to know everything, Commander Dapper being the one
who gets kidnapped by aliens each weekend and Huey George being the most efficient and undervalued prefect 😉

I will document eight eUK parties, in no particular order, apart from loose electoral ranking.

The Unity Party (often abbreviated to TUP)
A democratic socialist movement here to improve the UK, and make a just society for all.

TUP is the biggest party in all of eBritain, and is therefore almost hegemonous. The party practically decides the CP all by itself, though this may change soon. Regardless, the party has some very intelligent people, and is pretty much the face of the eUK to the outside world - because of this, it may stay in power for a long time.

New Era (sometimes abbreviated to NE)
New Era is a party valuing individual liberties, which is actively working for the progression of the eUnited Kingdom through means of promoting a strong, friendly and helpful community, diverse government and free thinking.

New Era is the second largest party, by a small margin. Before, it challenged the might of TUP, had some very rich players (still does), housed our very own Dr Hugh Jardon and was the go to place for small parties who wanted into congress. Now, though, it is the most controversial party in the eUK. What happened, basically, is that its leadership council left the eUK to join eIre, where they threatened to destroy the eUK. Since then, they have returned, and now the party has risen back to some semblance of prominence (sort of, their turnout at elections is quite low). They also headed the party alliance TACO, the creation of which prompted the creation of the PFA, which brings me on beautifully to the next party.

Workers' Rights Party (abb. WRP)
We want as many citizens as possible to have a say in how the country is run. We trust the people tempered by prudence, this separates us from a lot of the other parties of the eUK who dis-trust the people tempered by fear. At the heart of our party is fairness, free-thinking and creativity.

Borne out of the ashes of the defunt Socialist Party 2-3 years ago, the WRP has had a stable period of moderate success. Now, though, it is a very cozy mega party, which consists of the WRP, UKPP, ESO and Skatalite parties. Its current party number (117) doesn't represent the party itself, it rather represents what you can do when small parties come together. You see, there has been a PTO attempt in the eUK, and tons of UKPP refugees came to the WRP; Mr Woldy has lately declared that the ATO was successful, for now. Until the 5th, and subsequently the 15th next month, however, the eUK won't know if it's worked. The WRP is probably one of the most serious parties, and met its peak last year at about 70 odd members, and pushing ahead to #4 at one point. It fell after a very prominent member left for TACO, led by New Era.

United Kingdom Reform Party (abb. UKRP)
Founded in 2007, UK Reform is the oldest British political establishment and survives to this day through a combined approach of pragmatism and realism towards the common goals of our national society. Whether you're a veteran or a newbie, we offer a fun and friendly place to enjoy the game 🙂

Indeed, this is the oldest surviving eBrit political party, and one of the oldest surviving ingame. Without these lot, I wouldn't even know that the game existed in 2007! When it was created (back in Dec 2007), it rivalled the huge influx from the 313 Forums into eUK. It soon grew a lot, and won (I believe) five CP elections in a row; it had this sort of success for a while, until v2, where it fell a fair bit; it came to a low point last year, and it is now back to a pretty good point! A community of very nice people, and certainly worth visiting if you ever go to the eUK.

Peoples' Communist Party
PCP unite, You have nothing to lose but your chains! Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, We'll keep the red flag flying here. PCP - dropping equality on your asses since 2008.

The underling to the far superior WRP, this is some parody party with little to no intellect behind its leadership... ahem. This party is another old party, dating back to 2008. Its history isn't nearly as well documented as the UKRP's! It has produced about five CPs, the most recent being Ayame Crocodile. Perhaps one of the most involved and fun parties out there, it has hosted (and is hosting) the very lucrative PCP Olympics. More often than not, its views are heard, and it currently 'hosts' the eComintern, an eGroup of left wing parties here. It has a rich and influential leadership, and actually implements some of the commie ideals ingame, most notably communes. A visit to their IRC channel is a must, especially on Pub Quiz nights! (#pcp)

United Kingdom Progression Party (abb. UKPP)
A community dedicated to concentrating on playing the game to the best of our abilities as a nation, In the battle for equality the UKPP continues to fight the against the prevailing trend within the UK government of division, defeatism and denial.

A currently PTOed party (I dug up the logo and quote from the wiki) that is a compact but influential party; it was founded as the UKPP three years ago, and then proceeded to rise relatively quickly; later on, some of the lead members of the Royal Navy, the UKPP's fighting force at the time, broke off and made the Dental Corps, who have had success in both political and military spheres (WookieO has been elected CP of the eUK, WayneKerr has had the honour of being in this article). Now, it has risen to prominence; a leading member of the small parties.

Every Single One
ESO will remain a party which is above the mundane politics which have plagued our country, whilst being below the members from which every party attains their true power. ESO will remain a party dedicated to the interests and progression of its members, not itself.

Definitely worth mentioning here; a hovering party, often in the top five. It was founded three years ago by jamesw, who remains there to this day, and Artela, a former CP of both the eUS and eUK (probably familiar to the oldies). It is currently under some kind of PTO by an unknown, who is trying to imitate mwcerberus' 'PTO' of the UKPP, with various name changes being made with his *sigh* Regardless, the ESO has a rich history, and has produced numerous Congressmen/women and remains a force in eUK politics.

Honourable mention

One Vision/British Empire Party

I felt that this party was worth mentioning as it has a rich history and is in fact the indirect reason I ever joined this game! This party started off in 2009 as the Conservative Revolution. Enjoying only moderate success for a time, it rebranded itself as the British Union Party, for a few hours, according to the wiki. Later, it called itself the British Empire Party, and enjoyed some serious success, rising to #3 at points; (when high up party numbers would usually exceed 200 (in the eUK)) it did, however, under repetitive leadership, fall into obscurity. One Vision was born from this party, though a separate party was made sometime last year.

I hope you enjoyed this article; do correct my shortcomings and tell me how awesome a job I did!
