[ZT] The Affirmation of Decent

Day 2,469, 13:56 Published in Switzerland Switzerland by Aphroditea

Greetings Switzerland,

It has been a long time since I had my newspaper on but I feel I can still be a lil helpful in this matter. The Zurich Times is going to bring the truth that some people are afraid to show and tell the stories in the way that yet have not been told. From now you shall have at least one article per week. The dark age of the Swiss Media is about to end!

Enjoy 🙂

The fact that Switzerland has one of the smallest communities is well known by all, however the fact that among all the active small communities Switzerland is the only one without an education system is not that much shared. In a not so long ago we use to have one of the biggest and most successful Social Care systems in the New World, but as our political titans left us our effective social programs went with them.
To take care of a population is more than just give orders and make plans. A leader needs to make sure that the planning shall actually become real and that the orders once given shall be actually followed. It is easy to say we are doing progress when we are just stagnant in a international political wave that we caught mostly because of the work of people that are not seen anymore.
If we compare the country we have now with the country we had some months ago then sure we made a lot of progress. But get out of the pit is not the same as be sure that we shall never go back, isn't it? In a world where every single brotherhood already has been broken who can Switzerland trust to keep going in this success path we were luck to find?
In order to survive we must stop spending hours in political fights are not that important and gather international influence, otherwise our small rise shall just the beginning of our fall. A couple of active names shall not bring enough help to win a war. A couple of dead names shall not maintain the influence we once have. We first need to inform and educate our people so they shall be spread our word effectively.

For this week's interview I choose Absinthium. He is two times President of Portugal and is currently in his second term. As one of the oldest Portuguese players, and one of my dearest friends, his experience shall enlighten us.

What do you think that can make a community active? If we look in the past we can see many examples of countries that once were considered dead and suddenly had a boom, such as Chile, Brazil and Taiwan. And in contrast of that, what do you think can kill a community?
Wars and bonus. Countries with wars get a lot of activity but they need bonus so they can convince people to stay in that country and get enough fighters to win campaigns. If countries don't have a good leadership, bonus and wars, its citizens will try to find activity and fun somewhere else and that's what countries should avoid.

What is the biggest change that happened in the New World since you were born? And what change would you like to see happening?
Well, there have been many changes and it's hard to answer this without thinking that the other was bigger because every changes had its own influence. The two big changes in my opinion are the division and co's system. It completely changed the game. With this new division system people don't fight in the last minutes no more and don't crash the game like we did before. We don't coordinate so much because of that too and because of CO's. There was a time when people went to IRC to get paid for damage, to get supplies to fight and coordinate damage. But now? now countries and some citizens put CO's in one campaign and the one with bigger CO's wins it, easy. It basically killed a lot of the irc work behind the big campaigns. It's all about money now. The changes that I would like to see? Admins setting tickets factories again and reducing the MPP's cost. The MPP's cost had a meaning when 1g was about 2k cc but now it is just 1/10 of it (or less) and the MPP remains at 10k cc.

During the past twelve month we saw many past conflicts being forgotten and many new ones being created. Until the moment we reached this fragile international balance many alliances had been built and many had fallen. Do you think that we finally reached a moment where the under the table alliance diplomacy will cease and the government will once again focus in the real wars?
Ceasing under the table alliance diplomacy? That's a myth. It won't cease when alliances like those we have currently are created because of the damage and not because of friendship. There will always be gossips around about this and that, secret treats between countries in different blocks and some bad feeling because players won't leave all they have in the battlefield for one country they don't have any kind of relationship with.

Considering the current worldwide arrangement and the all the diplomatic moves made since the end of CoT and TWO, who do you think has the advantage in the war? Why?
Well, if I check weekly damage I think I'll find more on Asteria*Leto side but on this side we have terrorists that deal tons of damage for Sirius. We must not forget that Sirius*Aurora block has the ability of setting high CO's and that's a big advantage. Furthermore LETO is quite unorganized and its coordination is poor due to weak leadership and lack of interest of country members. I look to Aurora and I notice strong bonds between its countries and then I look to LETO and I cry. The blocks are well balanced and for now it will remain like this if LETO doesn't organize like some months ago when all the countries got congress for them and helped Asteria countries a lot. If LETO reorganizes Asteria will have a big advantage against Sirius and Aurora.

It has been some time now since we started again talking about a new Air Strike. For most of us this is a good option that shall bring us more fun (?) and make us fight more. But really? Do we actually know how much an Air Strike costs? Or what it takes to actually strike?
It is the most expansive way to attack and also the most insecure. Even if we had the money and the titans to fight for us, who would we attack? Some people might know the answer of this, but why would we spend hundreds of thousands in a Air Strike to stay only one or two days in the region?
For a successful Air Strike we must choose a safe place far from our enemies, and we can not just simply think It shall be fun so let's do it. We must start thinking in long term plans to survive or our community shall only keep going down. An operation of this size must be planned and must only be conducted if we actually have chances of winning.
Instead of wasting our taxes money in something that (for now) shall not help us in long term we ought to focus on helping our players and our community to grow. Such huge amount of money would be better spent in Social Care and/or SNA.
It is time to the Swiss Government start working. Working for our future.

The Zurich Time is meant to be more than just a personal newspaper. One of my intentions with this project is to reanimate the Swiss Media, and to accomplish that we are going to need much more than just one mind. One of the keys of a active and healthy community is an active media.
