[WHS CP] Forums
Winston Hope Smith
Dear friends and fellow eIrish,
As you all know we are sadly lacking a forum. Time has come to put right this wrong.
However we need to overcome a few things so our forum will have the fullest possible acceptance by all the various factions in eIreland
With this in mind I believe the following points are relevant...
1. The forum must not be hosted by a player
2. The Admin (team) must be players of the highest repute accepted by a large majority
My issue in point 1 is that if the forum is hosted on a players site then we are beholden to that player. If they leave we have to lose the forum and all the history in it. Instead I am recommending we use Zetaboards. Zetaboards will never delete your board, once made they live for ever.
For point 2 I ask that you submit who you think is a person who can command the widest support here. If you have a name please speak to them before submitting their name to me by message.
Together we can rebuild a community on a forum. Where people will register because they trust those with the Admin job and know their log in details will not be abused.
with kindest regards,
Until next time

Nice initiative 🙂
Here we go agaaaain..
Someone ring Kolshire and tell me we're super super sorry
I would like to see the forum up again. There are some things that PMs and IRC just can't do or are not effective at.
Personally do not see the need for a forum. Just one more layer for the serious business role players to get wrapped up in.
Having seen the effectiveness of forums on the internet, I'm all for it.
Or, contact the e sim player who could alter an Irish forum to include erepublik.
Link seanan?
Despite the failures of forums here in the past I am strongly in favor of this initiative. I have seen forums become wildly successful in other countries (even small ones) and tbh it is one of the things that I miss about them. It may take some lot for the Irish to warm up to the idea, but I believe it is possible if it is done right.
Good luck.
To keep role-players under control there should be a committee for the oversight of role-play, with a mandate to limit role-play to an agreed level. The agreed level should be decided by an ad-hoc sub-committee, comprising a Grand Wizard, Deputy Grand Wizard, Recording Officer and other experts who may be co-opted as deemed necessary by the Grand Wizard.
James you know someone has read that and thought it was a great idea.... : - /
Tib, that would be the Grand Wizard.
I'm for it,
voted
and I am that Grand Wizard.
i am for it!
Really looking forward to having a forum again. Really essential tool for the community.
At least all the admin team will have to worry about is moderation rather than email and password security.
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggg
No suggestions for admin yet
Someone ring Kolshire and tell me we're super super sorry x2, and its still there, just no one using it since it was moved from kolshires site to the present one.

^This
Though I'll prolly only use it if I absolutely have to
Nogin. In my last term one of the reasons I never got this done is I was waiting for Kolshire to move server
Now I believe that it is best to take players out of it and sort the hosting on a server that will always be there even if a player leaves/goes inactive
If Kolshire would like to be an Admin there I feel she would be the type of person that would receive broad support
I don't think someone who let down the last forum be a current admin, but that's just me. I'm all for a forum, but I can see the pros and cons to it as well.
I've spoken to Klynn about this, and I submit myself.
Am all for forums; they're time tested places for organising and co-ordinating across diverse communities.
i'm for it once it run correctly
"If Kolshire would like to be an Admin there I feel she would" - Oh the youth...the youth....
Ok Im not saying im the one for this, but I have programming experince for 5 years, and have made websites/forums. I can program php/js/c#/vb/c++/c/mysql/apache, this website probably doesn't require programming but I can maintain a forum, if you want me to I volunteer. I am a player but, the only reason for a admin to go onto a forum is to make sure its running, and updates to do. Thanks for thinking about a forum.

Vice President of IFP 1 day till President

And I would never use other's login info, however someone saying that is hard to accept, so just register with different info, same name. Problem solved 🙂
