July 2015 Budget

As with all sessions of Congress, this one began with the budget discussion. Congressmen have to decide how much to spend and where to spend it. Last month, the discussion fell mainly on the USAF. People were calling for less funding as well as better use of the funds it was already budgeted. This was due to the fact that the USAF almost always requests less than the weekly budget allots. However, this month was primarily focused on the “Arm America” program, as well as the Department of the Interior.

The Department of the Interior runs such programs as “Bewbs 4 Newbs,” “Stack the Wall,” “Bank Up 2 Strength Up,” and “Meals on Wheels.” These programs are available to a vast majority of lower level eUS Citizens to gain daily supplies and support. As such, these programs can take a lot of funding. Much of the time, this is done with private donation. However, the DoI requested a line item on the budget due to the large expenses that can be racked up over the month. According to their statistics, it took $56,000 to run the DoI’s programs last month.

In order to properly fund this and leave room for expansion, the Department of the Interior asked Congress for a budget line of $25,000 a week. This was the only change to last month’s budget, and after much discussion, it was approved. The final vote tally was 22-1 in favor of passage.

The Weekly Budget for July 2015 is as follows:
MPPs - $60,000
USAF - $80,000
Arm America - $25,000
DoI - $25,000

Total - $190,000

The remaining tax revenue is given to the treasury and put into our abundant reserves for future use. If you are interested in the full discussion, you may read it here

Spanish-American War

Recently, we took it upon ourselves to help a great ally across the Atlantic that requested assistance. That nation was Portugal, a fierce historical rival of the Spanish people. As Spain grew more and more bothersome with determination, we decided to help hold them down for some time. While other nations may try to broker peace, the Portuguese do not trust the Spanish government after they broke several prior agreements.

While our forces admittedly stumbled out of the gate, requiring a second NE law to be passed, we are back on track to reclaiming all free Spanish territory. As of writing, we are achieving an overwhelming victory in Castilla y Leon, allowing us to move on to Extremurda. This war may very well be over in the next couple days. However, there is always drama brewing on the European Continent, and we’ll be in Spain for as long as possible!

eNPR TONIGHT (MONDAY) AT 10pm EST!

That’s right, folks! Tonight marks the second week of eNPR’s return! We here at the Department of Media were greatly thrilled by the support this community showed for the return of eNPR on July 5th. We had a total of 49 live viewers, which blew away all of our expectations. For a game that is seeing steady decreases in its userbase, that was an incredibly strong showing. In fact, it was the highest viewership for eNPR since September 2013!

Another 24 of you listened to the archived version, bringing total listeners to 73! This just shows how active and vibrant the eUS community truly is. People take time out of their day to chat, socialize, and discuss this game and the people who play it.

Tonight, we have a wonderful show lined up for you as Aramec and myself (Derphoof) continue to host the show. Listen Live here and join us at #eNPR on Rizon for live chat and discussion. There will also be a live chat on the show’s page itself (if I can get it up and running). You can all discuss there as well, and it means I’ll have one less tab to check in on during the broadcast!

We hope you listen in!

Sincerely, Your Media Team:
Derphoof
