[Vanguard] Where's the opposition?

Day 2,063, 04:58 Published in Denmark Denmark by pho3nix

Denmark truly has problems. Not only are we a small population - constantly getting smaller - there's also very little going on in the country. Perhaps we might not have the critical mass to keep a constant debate going, but then we really should consider what we are doing here. What we are fighting to protect.

A free Denmark is at the very least a springboard for Danish players into the rest of the game. As our coffers are at least somewhat filled with coin, we currently can afford to run VERY generous government programs. This should take care of the serious needs of any eDanish player looking to find his/her place in the game. My hope is that the articles launched by both myself as Minister of Labor, and the articles from the Ministry of Education and Information, respectively, is enough to inform the general public of the existence of these programs.

Once again, I have to raise my voice in opposition to the current situation of the political module: or the lack of it. With seven operational parties, I know we're spread thin - but we have to address the situation in some way. I think part of the reason we keep seeing new parties appear - besides the obvious problem of PTO's - is that new players cannot relate to the parties. There's no clear division between the parties - and that makes it hard for new players to attach themselves to it, both emotionally and policy-wise.

The lack of an active left is a serious threat - because I know what eCommunism can do to Denmark. Even the shape and sound of it makes my gut turn - but as we have no clear leftist-party the field is wide open for the ultra-left to take the scene and do as they please with it.

I think we have to ask ourselves: what defines Killers with Spoons, as opposed to Aurora? What policies have Venstre suggested? Which part of Apperture Science's political program is your favorite?

Really, there is only one alive and active party in Denmark right now. That's Vanguard. We actually release articles. We make suggestions, create programs and keep them operational. Our members are active in the media, and have high ranking positions in Government. Heck, the last four months - we've been your President-of-Choice.

Tomorrow is the day when we choose the leaders of the parties - and I sure hope the candidates have thought over what they want to do with their time as Party President. I hope we can see some kind of sign of life from any of them. It's really hard being the only one out there - kinda makes ruling a fairly easy gig.

Here's Vanguard's latest suggestion: Weekly Team Fortress 2 tournaments.Prices for the top team, and top player. Why TF2? It's free, doesn't take the latest Super Computer to run. And I don't remember any of us being pro-gamer at it.

Think about what your vote means, both tomorrow - but also on the 25th.
