[UK Gov] So many countries!

Day 1,433, 02:07 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

This article is aimed at allowing the younger citizens of the eUK to know how we became aligned to certain countries and alliances in the present and additionally in the past.

The UK has been a part of a few alliances in the past, in fact, we've been a member of most major international alliances. However, as times change and new relations are forged, we become disassociated with various countries and aligned with a variety of others. You would never guess that around two years ago, the eUK was allied with Canada, with the USA and at one point we had a good relationship with Ireland.

The eUK is not currently in an alliance but we are pro-ONE, a group of nations that support ONE, which is an alliance featuring a few of the world's most powerful nations - Poland, Spain, Serbia, Macedonia, Sweden and Hungary, all of which we share very good relations with.

However, in the more distant past the UK was involved with ATLANTIS, the predecessor alliance to EDEN and we were consequently allied with Canada, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Poland, Romania, Sweden and the USA. The alliance, however, collapsed after Germany was attacked by fellow member Sweden and we ended up going to PEACE after discussions about the replacement alliance called FORTIS stalled and went awry.

PEACE was the successful predecessor alliance to Phoenix, one of the most recent alliances we were a member of. This is where we started ally to a few of the allies we have today - Serbia, Indonesia and Hungary, for example. When PEACE collapsed in November 2009, Phoenix was formed soon after and many of the UK's leadership were involved in the alliance as Secretary General, such as Woldy, Iain Keers and Dishmcds.

Individual Allies

Serbia
Serbia has been our ally since we entered PEACE GC, a massive world alliance, back in 2009 and exceptionally strong relations continue to this day. The UK and Serbia have fought alongside each other in PEACE, Phoenix and, now, as allies in ONE. A few of our citizens have had some experience in Serbia including Iain Keers, whom has helped forged outstanding relations.

Macedonia
Macedonia was added to the game alongside New Zealand, Cyprus, Belarus, Taiwan and Montenegro in autumn 2010 and immediately became involved in the Phoenix alliance due to real life dislike of Greece. Since we were in Phoenix when Macedonia joined, we became allies right away and remain so today with ONE.

Poland
Unlike the above two nations, Poland was one of our enemies prior to around April this year. They were a member of EDEN and frequently, as they do nowadays, involved themselves in wars against France and Germany. However, they became a founding member of ONE in January of this year and switched alliances in the process.

Sweden
Much like Poland, Sweden was one of our enemies before we became a pro-ONE nation as they were a member of EDEN. Relations gradually improved between us and Sweden and an MPP was finally signed. Recently, we and Sweden cooperated with an invasion of Canada's original regions.

Hungary
Much like Serbia, Hungary has been our ally since PEACE and they once possessed Scotland as part of a rental agreement. Due to their position in the middle of Europe, Hungary and the UK don't often have a border, much like the rest of our allies. We have helped them win many battles in the past and vice-versa, including the battle for Rhone Alps against Poland in June 2010 and their help in the numerous battles for London we have seen throughout the last year or so. There was a brief lapse in relations earlier this year when we joined Terra but they resumed as soon as we left.

Spain
Do the nature of our relations with France and the existence of the Strasbourg Treaty, the UK was quite often found on opposite sides with Spain. This changed as Phoenix broke up but an alliance with Spain wasn't an immediate thing and really only first began to form at the start of summer (May, June, July etc.) this year. Since then Spain's battles have frequently been the UK's priority in our orders, including the battle for Asturias earlier this month.

Turkey, Indonesia and Iran
These nations have been our allies since our membership in PEACE and they have fought hard for us and we have for them. Earlier this year we allowed a Turkish military unit to take residence in the UK and they in-turn allowed various UK military commanders in to use their resource bonus, both of which show mutual trust between the two countries.
