[TUP] Results from this month's Unity Conference

Day 2,728, 01:38 Published in United Kingdom France by Hell The Great

For the past few weeks, as a party we have been in Conference Mode. With three group messages including all members who wanted to have their voice heard, we have been debating what we, as a party, should do to improve the UK. The publishing of these results is firstly, to show the UK what we as a party hope to achieve. Secondly, it is to offer our ideas up as inspiration to our current Congress and Government. Finally, this article is published with one eye on the upcoming Party President elections. Regardless of who you are, if you intend to stand for TUP Party President this month, this article is for you!

Without further ado, on behalf of the party and all of its members I am pleased to announce the results of our Unity Conference this month.

These results will be split according to four areas. Firstly, there will be an area for each of the three main Presidential Policy areas; Domestics, Economics and Military/Foreign Affairs. Finally, the fourth and final area is an overview of feedback offered from Party Members about how they feel the party itself could improve in the future.

Domestics
- Immigration. Our country should be encouraging Immigration not just as a way to allow allied nations to base their weapon making facilities in our nation, but also as a way of expanding our population. A clear, concise system that will allow players who are willing to join our community to quickly and easily become a citizen should be adopted as soon as possible.

- Ministry of Home Affairs As a party we feel that the current direction of MoHA is detracting from its work. Firstly, we should acknowledge that its main role is not to offer a few people some entertainment with games, but rather, focus on education. The ministry should be focused on the publishing, republishing and updating of guides to help new players adjust to and flourish in the new world. The Ministry's importance should also be cemented in the political system, by ensuring that the Minister in charge is VP. This allows the President (Super-MoFA in practice) to focus on the more reactive and turbulent part of the game, whilst the Vice President (Super-MoHA/MoE) can focus his in his entirety on ensuring that our new players are involved, educated and interested in the game.

- Communication Government communication may be set to improve this month, but this does not mean we should not ignore the recent past - it has been at times woeful. There should be at minimum, weekly updates from every department of Government outlining what has gone on, and performance of all those within the Ministry.

Economics
- Taxes Whilst our President announced a tax cut as part of his policy, we are pleased to see that so far this has not taken place. As a party we supported the use of Work Tax as our main source of income, instead of the use of VAT. VAT unfairly targets the weaker in the game; those who must buy products because they do not have the companies to produce them. It is much fairer, and more efficient to use Work Tax. This not only ensures a more stable income, but also ensures that the income of our Government is sourced fairly; the more companies you have, the more tax you should pay - not the more products you have the buy the more tax you pay as we currently have. Further, we would prefer to have Work Tax set at a rate of 4% to enable the country to rebuild reserves.

- Food Bonus Deal As a party there was mild support for the idea of continuing this policy, however there was doubts as to whether at 60,000 GBP per month it constituted good value for money.

- Protecting Government Reserves As a party we want to ensure that in the future, we are safe from MTO's ransacking our reserves, as well as any rogue Congress or President/Minister being able to destroy months of reserve building in a matter of hours. As such, we as a party would use the game mechanics related to Military Units and their associated Organisation accounts to ensure that the vast majority of Government Reserves were in the hands of trusted citizens and MU commanders. War Reserves would be split across trusted MU's, with the amounts deposited directly into the Military Unit to ensure CO's could be set conveniently. The MoF would be charged with ensuring money was accounted for and didn't disappear. Outside of war reserves, we would ensure that co-operation with trusted citizens, and the owners of Non-Government Orgs would sit on the Country's other reserves. The President and Government would have a rolling 'balance' of 100,000 CC with any excess being safely stored away. Again, MoF would be expected to ensure that money is accounted for.

Military/Foreign Affairs

- Communication. Many of our members lamented how little information was released to the public over the last few months in relation to our allies, and MPP stack. All members agreed in future we should expect, and through Congress, ensure and require that our Government releases more regular updates on our Foreign Affairs policies.

- 'Core Allies' As a party we would like to see our Foreign Affairs policy centred around the three countries we consider our core allies; Chile, Croatia and Germany. These nations have time and again done their all to support us, and offer our nation a rounded base of allied damage across various timezones. Germany as a nation is also similar to ourselves; selfless and willing to step in to lend a hand, in the same way we as a country have done for our allies so many times before.

Internal Party Feedback
- Elections - Presidential elections should be held earlier, with more information offered to members on the proposed plans of candidates. The leadership should where possible ensure that candidates have offered a summary of their plans. If their plans do not include it, the PP should also ensure that a history of their experience in Government and past actions is passed on to all members before any poll is held.

- Party Conference As a process, the party conference should be continued next month to ensure that our work is not put to waste. The process should be used to ensure we as a party have an identity and a message to offer the UK populace, and could potentially be used within Congress to ensure that we as a party are doing all we can to improve the UK.

- Party Leadership Should continue to split the responsibilities of running the party according to the roles that Paul outlined earlier this month, to ensure that the party never again relies on a small handful of people to ensure it remains alive. More and more people should be trusted with power and responsibility to groom future generations of leaders.
