[Socialist Revolution] The Population Growth Strategy

Day 2,035, 07:06 Published in Australia Norway by Major Lee Hung

When I joined eAustralia, we around had 1,000 citizens. We're now struggling to attain the 900 mark. This isn't just happening to eAustralia - it's happening everywhere. eRepublik's population has fallen by 20,000 over the last few days.

Recruiting New Citizens

This plan requires a joint effort from everybody in eAustralia - not just one party. We all benefit from new citizens joining us.

There's a strategy to a sustainable, strong nation that people don't see. We see powers rise and fall all the time, look what came of eChile's baby boom. Most of it has gone to waste because they didn't have a strategy. ePoland is so far the only one to have made use of its baby-boom.

I've written this strategy below.

My Philosophy

The number of active citizens very much ties in with strategy. The war module was very short term - it hasn't been thought through. In two years from now, we're going to have huge disparity in strength. You'll have your tanks who have 100,000+ strength, who are capable of dropping up to 10mil damage using JUST their 'food fights'. You'll also have the people who are new to the game, who can barely drop 10,000 in a campaign using their food fights. These people will both eventually end up in the same division.

Now, many countries simply recruit new citizens. That's all very useful for divisions 1 and 2, but it isn't going to help you in division 4 in a year's time. In fact it's counter-productive if you overlook one very simple method - recruit existing eRepublik players.

Many players are bored with eRepublik and looking for a new challenge. eAustralia can be that new challenge. Starting over in a new country, as many of us have done, facing all of those challenges all over again and meeting more friends along the way.

More importantly, it gives eAustralia that very important aspect - higher strength in the top divisions, which will be vital in the future.

You need a strategy to constantly keep on top. This recruitment strategy will soon be the new way forward, the new way of deciding wars. If eAustralia adopts it now, we can get a head start for in a year's time when people begin to realise, "How do we grow division four?". We can be that nation with too many 100k+ strength citizens in the end game, we can be that country who are finally able to stick it to the bullies of the Southern hemisphere as their division 4 diminishes, yet ours grows.

Break-down of the Recruitment Strategy

Division 1: This division, we can simply recruit new citizens. Friends, friends of friends, natural additions of new citizens, returning citizens. This will sometimes take care of itself, but we need to make sure we're recruiting a steady number of new citizens for later divisions and future sustainability.

Division 2: Division one will directly feed in to this. We don't need to worry about division 2, because there's nothing we can do for it except recruit people to Division 1 and watch them progress. What we don't want is a bottle neck from a small recruitment burst that suddenly goes dead - this happens all too often. If ever division 2 is bigger than division 1, we have a real problem.

Division 3: This is where we begin recruiting existing citizens. Those who use gold to train are the best for future sustainability, though this strategy is ever changing. In six months' time, this division will simply be too disadvantaged for this strategy to work, and it will soon follow the same strategy division 2 does now.

Division 4: This is what I referred mostly to above. Typically, the average strength of a new player to this division will be 10k-15k. This is somebody who gold-trains and fights often.

Consider the future however. A year from now, your experienced citizens have 80k strength. Your new citizens have less than a quarter than that, at 18k strength. This is just the way the eWorld is headed. Soon, you'll need ten new Division 4 citizens on your side to counter one experienced Division 4 guy on the enemy's side.

Solution? Recruit existing citizens. We need to recruit people from foreign countries who already have 20k, 30k, maybe even 40k strength. This will soon be the only way we can compete. Soon, tanks such as this will be like gold-dust. 100k strength citizens will decide division 4, and everybody else will just piss away damage because there won't be enough to counter a 100k strength enemy.

With these two strategies of population growth that need to be looked at (recruiting new people to eRepublik and recruiting experienced players to eAustralia) below is the three most common options on how to go about sustainable growth:

Advertising

Advertising is the way eRepublik grows usually, funded by the eRepublik team. Every now and again, individual countries will advertise to try and give themselves an edge over everybody else. Recently we all recieved a message from Ajay Bruno asking for funding - this sparked an idea! Why don't we use crowd-sourcing the collectively fund an advertising campaign for eAustralia?

We can use Kickstarter to kickstart our campaign! From here, we can have fellow eAustralians donate, and we can also send appeals to our international friends to donate. Top donators could get prizes such as their referral link being used. For this idea, we'd need a real-life Australian who has been a trusted member of the community for many years.

I personally won't press ahead with this one, but if you like this idea, feel free to steal it! If you get in touch with me I'll send you my full plan for this one and you can use any bits of it you feel are best.

Recruiting from Other eNations

I've already been doing this one to ensure eAustralia stays afloat. So far, I've brought around 15-20 people to eAustralia; many of us have achieved BHs for the country, and some even CHs. If just ten people achieved the same number, our rank would be boosted by about ten places.

Recruiting people from TWO countries boosts our image in TWO, which in turn will result in support. We have to recruit people we know to avoid a PTO, and the idea only works when we have an active congress. (i.e. regions at election time)

We've had success with this idea and the total boost to population has been about 3%. Our active population has seen around an 8% raise from the people we've brought in, and they help in government with things like supplies. We also ask for help from our friends in TWO - this is beneficial as eAustralia is taking a pro-TWO stance.

This one the Socialist Revolution will continue to do - and we encourage other parties to do the same. Top 7 party recruits 50 people, we'd begin to have the strength to force back eIndonesia.

Friends

We hopefully all have friends in eRepublik - some of us have friends who might enjoy the game. Maybe not even friends, just people you know. Maybe people you play with in other games! If everybody who's active recruited 2 friends each, our active population would triple. This would begin putting us on a similar activity level, for a shout time, with Chile and Indonesia.

Why not invite your friends today? Not only does it help eAustralia, but you get a little bit of gold too!

We all have the ability to help grow eAustralia. If we can't fight for our country back, we can find people to help. Even if you can only find one person, you've done more than most in the eWorld for their eCountry.

Hopefully this is some food for thought for other parties! eAustralia has a lot more potential than many would think.
