[MoFA] The Ambassador Programme

Day 2,211, 00:49 Published in South Africa Belgium by eLiam

The Ambassador Programme

Ambassador's are representatives of South Africa who are in foreign countries representing South Africa. An ambassador builds and maintains relationships within foreign countries for South Africa, they report back to South Africa with certain information and are in these countries to create and maintain diplomacy between each of our countries.

Being an ambassador in a foreign country means you are helping your country become not only more familiarized with a foreign nation but also increasing the chances of future relationships between our two countries which may create long-term friendships and an increase of business.

What Is An Ambassador's Role & What Are They Expected To Do?

An ambassador is expected to get involved with whichever foreign country they are an ambassador for, they are expected to sign up to the country's forums and try to be active on their IRC channel(s). As an ambassador you will be also expected to gather information legally, whether private or public and report back to the government of South Africa on your findings.

If there is a proposal or policy change in South Africa which involves the country you are currently an ambassador for, you will have to give an input on the subject that will be used as crucial information.

Furthermore, while being an ambassador, you must strengthen friendships between our two countries and have a good opinion on anything related to the country you are an ambassador of, you must communicate to both country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and if necessary, you will be involved in meetings held between the two countries, you may even be expected to set such meetings up with dates and times.

You are expected to always show respect to the country you are an ambassador for and also South Africa, while being an ambassador, you are representing South Africa to another country so keep all personal opinions, public or private to yourself, if you are not sure how to respond to certain questions by that country, you should always feel able to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for South Africa. As an ambassador you must maintain a certain level of neutrality, never be bias to the foreign country you are in and never support one political subject over another, this is due to the fact you are an ambassador and as an ambassador you must understand that the country you are in will be constantly changing just like our own, the government that is currently in seat may be replaced next term by a set of citizens you have been bias towards, this will create problems for South Africa as you are representing us so make sure to always be neutral and fair to every citizen in that country, no matter your personal opinions.

Signing Up To Be An Ambassador

If you wish to become an ambassador you must have read this article and fully understood your purpose, you must then choose a country you feel would be best suited towards you as well as knowing that in that country you will not be bias and you will be able to report back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs once a week.

If you still wish to be an ambassador you must make sure you are signed up to eSouth Africa's forums and be active (enough) on IRC. You can then contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister or Deputy via the eRepublik messaging system.

Your message must include the following:
- Forum nickname.
- IRC nickname.
- Country you wish to be an ambassador for.
- Why do you wish to be an ambassador of the selected country?
- Experience.
- Further information (optional).

Lastly..

The Ambassador Programme is being reconstructed and redone to a professional standard, this includes having an active list of who are ambassadors and where, we are going to be looking into recruiting a manager for the ambassador programme (contact for more information) and we are going to make sure that every ambassador keeps South Africa up to date on the forums and all relevant information is stored correctly.

That is all for now.
