[MoD/MoFA] Second Update on the situation

Day 2,796, 04:48 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Ministerie van Defensie

Dear citizens, soldiers and friends,

Those who thought the conflict that has recently dawned upon Europe was nearing its end already at the time of our last update were wrong indeed. In our last update, Canada had singly-handed rooted out Italy and Germany out of our country and even pushed all the way to Denmark and Berlin. France, which initially joined the assault on Germany, was targeted by Chile soon afterwards. It managed to land almost unopposed and swept its way across France. Slovenia, Poland and Colombia all intervened - leading to Belgium being a battleground for trespassing forces once again - but to no avail at that very moment.

First of all you need a big picture of the map to figure out what’s going on.

Current map of the area

Canada's onslaught - which led to our liberation - quickly came to an halt after the Canadian government wrestled with its Congress about the taxes to support an ongoing occupation of the area. One that would have led to a cordial relation between the Netherlands and Canada and would have had give us a massive additional layer of protection. However, it was not to last. The expensive expedition came to a definitive stop when the Germans simultaneously started resistance wars in 3 regions of the Canadian empire. The German-funded uprisings in Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany caught the Canadians off-guard and swiftly the Canadians were pushed back into the Atlantic.

This led to the full independence of our country again, although the Canadians only held on to the Northern part of our country with our explicit approval as to have a safe base in Europe. In fact, our independence was more secure with our allies having bases in our country than it is now. All alone yet again. However, the Canadian assault against Germany gave us some breathing time to stabilize our situation. The measures that have been taken in that short amount of time will likely result in our independence being maintained for the coming time.

Meanwhile to our south the clash of titans continued in Belgium. Poland landed in Belgium in an attempt to root out Chile from the area, but after some heavy-fought epic battles the Chileans have managed to kick Poland out of Belgium. However, where one nation left the catwalk, others appeared. The United States joined in the fray by NE'ing France (followed by a NE on Chile), a mere maneuver to ensure access to Chile, as to attack them. Colombia, Slovenia and the USA collectively wiped France as to set the stage for a full-blown collective attack on Chile. Another player is keen to enter the battlefield as well, as Brazil is about to launch an airstrike onto Germany (Saar/Lorraine, which borders Chile-occupied France) which is set to start soon.

As you might have noticed, the current events around us are still interesting - even more when you realize that it all can be traced back to the German attack on our country 2 months ago.
