[MOC] Report: effectiveness of the forum registration bonus

Wat is de forum registration bonus?
Extract uit het wetboek:
1. All in-game citizens of the eNetherlands can request a forum registration bonus after registering on the national forum.
De burgers van eNederland worden aangemoedigd om zich op het forum aan te melden. Vooral voor nieuwe burgers vinden we deze stap zodanig belangrijk, dat we hiervoor een bonus willen toekennen.
Waarom bestaat deze bonus?
Veel belangrijke gebeurtenissen en debatten van de eNederlandse gemeenschap vinden plaats op het forum. Het is zowel voor de gewone man in de straat als de burger met politieke aspiraties zeer waardevol om up-to-date te blijven van het reilen en zeilen in ons land. Daarvoor is toegang tot het forum een onontbeerlijke stap.
Wat is de effectiviteit van deze bonus?
Onze Minister van Financiën zorgt reeds meerdere termijnen voor een zorgvuldige financiële beleidsvoering met een duidelijke budgetteringsstrategie voor de regering. Nieuwe plannen met financiële impact worden steeds uitgebreid bestudeerd.
Niet alleen de nieuwe plannen, maar ook de oudere subsidieprogramma's moeten aan de tand gevoeld worden. Daarom dit onderzoek naar de effectiviteit van de forum registration bonus.
Methodologie: Met behulp van egov werd een lijst gemaakt van alle nieuwe (actieve) burgers. Deze lijst werd aangevuld met de aangevraagde forum registration bonus en de status (actief/dood/ban) van elke citizen in deze lijsten.
De volgende tabel vat samen in welke segmenten het meeste burgers voorkomen.
Enkele waarnemingen:
- Van de laatste 25 bonussen die werden toegekend aan burgers, zijn 16% (4/25) inactief.
- Er werden geen bonussen toegekend aan multi's of andere dubieuze burgers, die nu gebanned zijn.
Conclusie
We durven besluiten dat de forum registration bonus relatief effectief is. Momenteel zien we geen dwingende redenen om deze financiële incentive aan te passen. Dit dient echter periodiek geëvalueerd te worden.
Kritiek
De meest recente bonussen werden aangevraagd door nieuwe burgers. Voor deze burgers kunnen we niet meteen zien of deze nog actief zijn. Dit is pas duidelijk na 30 dagen. De verhouding "alive" tegen "all new citizens" zal dus waarschijnlijk nog afnemen.

What is the forum registration bonus?
Extract from our law book:
1. All in-game citizens of the eNetherlands can request a forum registration bonus after registering on the national forum.
The citizens of eNetherlands are encouraged to register on the forums. Especially for new citizens we think this step is important, so we are willing to award a bonus.
Why does this bonus exist?
A lot of important events and debates of the eNetherlands community take place on the forum. As well for the common man as for the citizen with political aspirations, it is important to stay up-to-date with the current reality. That's why forum access is an essential step.
What's the effectiveness of this bonus?
Our Minister of Finance takes care of the government's meticulous budgetting strategy for already multiple terms. New plans with financial impact are studied elaborately.
Not only new plans, but also older subsidy programs should be evaluated from time to time. That's why there is this research on the effectiveness of the forum registration bonus.
Methodology: With the use of egov a list was generated of all new (active) citizens. To this list we added the citizens who requested the forum registration bonus and the current status of these citizens (active/dead/ban).
The table below summarizes which categories apply to most citizens.
Some observations:
- From the last 25 bonuses that were awarded to citizens, 16% (4/25) are inactive now.
- No bonuses were award to multi's or other dubious citizens, that are now banned.
Conclusion
We dare to conclude that the forum registration bonus's effectiveness scores relatively well. At this moment we see no urgent reasons to adapt this financial incentive. However, this should be re-evaluated periodically.
Critique
The most recent bonuses were requested by new citizens. For these citizens it is not clear right away if they are still active. This is only clearly observable after 30 days. The proportion "alive" versus "all new citizens" will probably decline after time.

Nice report, it is not something I've given much thought but it is good info
This report is a byproduct using the information that was already collected for other MoC purposes. This is only a specific part of that information that I deemed interesting to make public.
Good to see this report. Keep it up!
As you stated it needs some overlooking over time; How many players "Died" after 2 months, 3, 6 could be valuable intel as well.
As for the effectiveness of the bonus; That's a conclusion I wouldn't make from these figures. Soemone still alive in game has nothing to do with effectiveness of the bonus. What it tells you is how much money was put down in the sewer almost instantly after payment.
Judging the actual effect would mean registering how many "Died" and of the ones still alive; How active are they on forum? Did they register as eNL citizen also? Are they member of other groups? Number of posts (Only bonus request perhaps?) and last visit are indications for that. Just like the kind of responses but that's become subjective very fast. For instance I don't consider posts in the general chat, help or off topic section something we should value much let alone reward it with a bonus where contributing in discussions/plans most likely is....
Appreciate the input. I agree it's a fairly superficial research. I was hoping to get some alternative visions on what defines an 'active' citizen.

I wish to begin by paying tribute to the minister of Coaching for this research. The registration bonus is a very royal gesture for new players! I think it's well spend government money. The forum bonus has indeed a positive effect on the whole country.
It is nice to get free money from the government, instead of paying tax to it 😛
Exactly how I feel! And to think we have people advocating that I ask people for donations instead of using the funds we already have to help people. It's crazy.
