[MDP] Excuse me, those are my underwear

Day 2,398, 10:17 Published in Canada Canada by Muglack

It's been a while since I, or anyone for that matter, has written an MDP related article. Well, that's not exactly true. Lately there's been a rash of MDP articles in the media concerning the upcoming PP election, but none of it has been very productive or shined a good light on our party.

What you've been seeing is our party's dirty laundry, hence the title of this article, and I apologize for it.

The MDP has never been open with our internal struggles. The whole idea behind the party, and the foundations on which it was built, was to keep these kind of issues internal. By not showing where or how we were weak we are able to subvert and discourage attempts to take our party by those who wish to do us harm.

The normal course of action when faced with a situation like this PP election would be to quietly rally our troops, attack the person who is attempting to do us wrong, and crush them on the 15th. It's what we did with DMV two elections ago, and it's what we've been doing forever.

Unfortunately, this month things got out of control. I don't know if it was a "Perfect Storm" situation or just luck that caused the predicament, but the fact remains things quickly began to spiral in a direction that the MDP isn't familiar, or to be completely honest, comfortable with.

We had a former member come back, look at the party of today through the lens of yesterday, and decide that something had to be done.

To be clear, this is something that I would normally applaud. This kind of in your face, act first and ask questions later attitude is exactly what the MDP was built on. It's what earned us our spot on the scene, and for a long time it's what made us the premier party in eCanada. 54 is exactly the brand of player that helps the party grow and the type of player that his party needs. It's also what made this situation different than most. We couldn't simply stonewall 54. We need players like him, and to shut him down, and dispose of him would do the party a lot more harm than good, so a different result needed to be achieved. So that's exactly what I did.

Last night I logged on IRC and waited for all of the concerned parties to log on. I figured it was a long shot on a Friday night, but based on Xander's articles, and comments I had seen I knew there was a chance. Sure enough, Xander was on when I arrived and about an hour later 54 logged on as well.

Then I got down to business.

I won't go into the details of the conversation, or the dick measuring contest that came as a result, because most of those matters are internal and none of your business. But what is of concern is that I was able to broker an amenable compromise that fits the spirit of the MDP, and we are able to move forward as one cohesive unit.

The deal is as follows:

Xander WILL be the next Dictator. He was selected by the outgoing leader, and that above all must be respected. Whether 54 wanted to admit it or not, there was a Council, and we didn't wrestle power from the Dictator last month, so he was well within his rights to name his Successor.

54 WILL be on the Military Council for the coming month. 54's claim to leadership was in not recognizing the previous council and claiming it was full of dead weight and "Yes men" rending it ineffective, and therefore illegitimate. This is solved by giving him a seat.

Finally, Xander IS on the shot clock. There is a movement in eCanada to get this country moving again, and the MDP is working from the same agenda. We want to revitalize and reinvigorate the party. Xander is getting his shot, and I hope he takes it, otherwise 54 will be right there waiting to slit his throat. Is it fair to Xander after he put in the time and energy he has to stick him in this kind of situation? No, not at all. But I've spent months and years following Rylde with a broom trying to pick up the pieces, so "being fair" isn't really high on my priority list when it comes to internal politics. It's kill or be killed in these parts.

I guess that's about it. This article ran a lot longer than I expected, but I think it was needed. It's been a long time since anything has been written, so you neanderthals can take a few minutes to pass words through your eye-holes.

TL😉R

Xander is the next Dictator.
54 is the official Executioner.
Sorry for airing out our dirty laundry in the public square.
