[Loathing] NHS, back to basics?

Day 2,139, 05:42 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by WayneKerr

The price of food at the moment is ridiculous. After Plato's 'great' contest in which we all ripped through our hard earned supplies, gold and currency, many of us are left without the proverbial pot to piss in.

Even Keers had to sell his Golden piss pot...

If old timers are struggling with their business empires, their full gold training and mountains of easy gold and currency earned in the boom times of eRepublik. Then spare a thought to the lonely newb, entering into the bright and confusing lights of the eWorld for the first time. Soon enough they come to the realisation that the 'political side' of the game is a complete waste of time they will look into ways to expand their accounts and attain the title of self sufficient...

... and this is where the touble starts.

The cost of attaining self sufficiency is unfortunately measured in actual, real life pound notes. Without cracking open the wallet your gonna suffer a slow and painful existence of not really counting for much and struggling to cover even basic needs. One thing the eUK population has been relativity good at, is giving to others. Generally speaking, those seen actively within an MU/Party structure tend to be fed, armed, and infrastructure will tend to be slightly more built up. The power of networking really does count.

A lot of the time this relies on some kind of loyalty to the provider. As seen in many cases throughout eUK's history. The NHS was set up to help younger members of our community to effectively cut down the cost of living in an effort to further building up of accounts, in essence to ease the burden of getting on your feet. At the moment its a swollen mess. Full of multis and those that by now, should be able to stand alone.

The cost of food is making things harder for all of us, couple that with weapon rises, many are finding it difficult to send the spare cash/food over to the guys at the NHS. This, in time, will cause the trust of the NHS to slip and confidence in it to shatter leading to even bleaker times. A simple way to ease the burden is to return to basics on what the NHS is/was/always should have been.

A retention net. A place to educate and interact with new players. Somewhere information and advice can easily be passed on to those that require it in timely fashion. Yesterday, a total of 59 Division one players earned experience points, the youngest being 4 days old, while the oldest was a grand old age of 1815 days old... At most 35 of them would require assistance.

Hopefully containing less sharks...

So why does the NHS cost so much? Aside from the culture of embezzlement formed in the reign of Zaphod, the main cost is the fact that prices are high and any Tom, Dick and Multi can apply so long as they are under level 1,000,000.

The threshold is far too high. Lower it, lower costs. Send weekly supplies rather than daily, or even bi-weekly. No one's got time or commitment to spend half hour daily sending/checking supplies, but a team can easily use egov on a Sunday afternoon to lazily send educational PM's and food for the coming week. Leaving time for everyone to enjoy other things!

But don't force em to fight, the last thing we want is a load of weak D2's, they only lead to weak D3's who then go on to become weak D4's... Educate em that Strength trumps all...

Strip it down to it's bare bones and focus on quality rather than quantity.
