[Know Your Candidates] July 2014

Day 2,418, 05:00 Published in Ireland Ireland by Ian E CoIeman

July 4, 2014

On the 5th of every month the nations of the New World begin the process of electing a new leader for their country. This is by far the most important election of the month, and the outcome of this day will determine our fate for the month to come.

Let your vote be an exercise of individual choice, a reflection of your loyalty to eIreland, and a result of the careful application of independent thought.

In an attempt to better inform the voting population, I'd like to provide some essential information about this month’s elections.

Campaign Articles
It's a good idea to read the campaign articles of each candidate before voting. Campaign articles most often detail the intentions and goals of a candidate, as well as their planned cabinet.

Note: The Country President's Cabinet refers to a team of people who will be aiding the Country President in his/her duties. Important examples are the Minister(s) of Defence, Minister(s) of Foreign Affairs, and Minister(s) of Finance. For examples of past cabinets, look here. For a better idea of how Irish government is set up, look here.

I offered each candidate the opportunity to respond to some questions about their candidacy that I thought would shed some light on these elections. All answers to those questions provided to me by the candidates can be found below.

Why are you choosing to run this month and what do you hope to accomplish in these elections?

Seanan: Ireland needs a kickstart again. The last months have actually been pretty hectic, you know with alliances/airstrikes/robberies/etc but we've still had fairly low activity levels and not much pride being generated in our achievements. I want to change that as we enter the summer.

As for hoped accomplishments? War!

Ian Arbuckle: I’m choosing to run this month because I feel after playing this game for so long I said to myself “why not give it a shot at the hot seat”. I believe that “hope” is a bad word 😉. I wish to accomplish a few small things such as keep improving the Irish Army by re-introducing the training ground program with new set of rules and maintaining our support for our allies in Aurora.

Cry of the Banshee: i run this month to break the habit, and propose some new way to manage the country.

The Republics Assassin: Well I choose to run every month as Ireland’s chosen saviour but misfortune keeps me away from the post for some reason, What do I hope to accomplish in the election a first place position for the defeated.

How would you summarize your plan for governing the nation in July?

Seanan: Lots of communication, attempt to lighten up the gloominess of politics lately with humour and cold hard pragmatic solutions.

Ian Arbuckle:
• Military – Improve infrastructure and introduce TUP (Training Upgrade Program)
• Finance – Fund military projects and keep the vault secure
• Media – Introduce incentives for our citizens to publish articles

Cry of the Banshee: for my plans, i think i was clear in my article (http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-2412113/1/20). the project is to promote the war module and motive all players to gain TP medal (gold) rewards and i hope , fun.

The Republics Assassin: To summarize it, I will be taking inspiration from many former world leaders. I will keep a steady productive line of Gulags and a strong military with loyal or die officers. I will be hoping to destroy the capitalist economic even more then previous attempts via allowing the admins to make updates to the economic module that as usual no one asks for and devaluing our currency because I clearly have no idea of economics. Also I will invade Iceland as well as the UK, seeing my opponents stole my UK idea.

What considerations have you made for cabinet positions? How will you be using your cabinet if you are elected?

Seanan: I've been approached by a variety of different people offering to help, even from some superstars like Gnilraps and Vesk0P (totally bragging). I'm trying to get new faces and upcoming stars into positions, and selecting people who I think will work independently of me to get results. I will release my cabinet with my final article.

Ian Arbuckle: I wanted a mix of experience and 1 or 2 fresh faces so I took my time choosing my team carefully. I’ve also adopted an advisory group of ex-CPs to guide my way through the term. The cabinet will be delegated tasks that are realistic and sometimes challenging.

It is important to remember that your team is the backbone of your success.

Cry of the Banshee: as i propose a type of martial law, the cabinet will be changed in a headquarter, with my closed eFriends and warriors, biednyMis as general (prime minister)

the headquarter will be concentrate to manage the rewards during the war + roleplay ideas (propaganda's articles etc etc😁)

ps : the irish MUs commanders will be added in my headquarter

The Republics Assassin: I have not looked for anyone to fill my cabinet because lets be honest no one is up to my standards. I shall run all of the ministries myself for the good of Ireland.

Going into this month's elections there has been talk of war for eIreland. In your view, how probable is such war within the next few weeks, and, if elected CP, would you actively pursue it?

Seanan: I would actively pursue war, Yes. Funding an airstrike can take months, so I can't say it will definitely happen in my term, although I intend to try but certainly the Canadian CP candidates were open to discussing possible War Games after the election. Such an event would be awesome, who really wears the pants in our relationship with Canada?

War with the UK isn't an option in my mind, at the moment. Aurora and Sirius are cooperative alliances, we share MPPs with the UK... attacking them would mean we lose our MPPs. Which would mean fighting with no MPPs and being boned! Or sign MPPs with our enemies and betray our alliance - that's not very noble in my opinion nor be very fun. Plus, I want a good fight with a similar strength partner! Rather than a UK which has had the fight kicked out of them by Canada and Argentina.

Ian Arbuckle: War is why we all play this game, because it’s fun. The probability of war is high and we have to become prepared first before pursuing it. Although I would never go to war without the consent of our allies in Aurora as we should all remember how things went wrong with USA’s communication in Sirius.

Cry of the Banshee: war is the plan, so the answer is obvious.

The Republics Assassin: Ah talk of war, is it likely well hopefully within reason for true patriot medals, though those suggesting it have no reason. As for my plans of course I plan to go to war, Ireland shall be a major power and rule the known and unknown world, it is the only reasonable option.

How do you plan to structure and facilitate Dáil discussions and what roll will they play in our government under your tenure in July?

Seanan: Well as the current Speaker/Ceann Comhairle of the Dáil, anyway I want I suppose 😉 I'd like to see the Dáil reporting more of their discussions to the public, but I'm assigning my Vice President to oversee the installment of the Immigration bill the Dáil passed lately.

Ian Arbuckle: I will take the Dáil’s constructive feedback and criticism seriously and it is important to know that they have the right to impeach me if I do not fulfil my duty. If we have any matters that require a referendum then the Dáil will be consulted immediately i.e. region swap, alliance matters etc..

Cry of the Banshee: i am outside the dail since october 2013 so i will discuss with regular congressists to see what is to improve. i had ideas during my last candidacy about this, we'll see.

i hope, if i am elected, the government will follow the vote of the community and will play the game i propose.

The Republics Assassin: I plan to enact a free for all as to further my attempt of abolishing that stupid beacon of oligarchy in Ireland known as the Dail. Ireland shall be a totalitarian dictatorship, the Dail will have no voice or power under me.

At the outset of June, eIreland's Dáil voted into effect a new Immigration Policy (http://tinyurl.com/p8x5228). Under section 4.1 of the policy, the Country President of eIreland is responsible for deciding the staff structure of the Office of Immigration. What structure do you propose to enact, and how would you approach the responsibility of Immigration matters?

Seanan: As said, I am delegating that to my Vice President with this Directive;
standardized communication which first reports if an applicant is a Foreign PTO threat as a separate criteria to any other trait of the individual, followed by additional notes in order for Dail members to make an informed judgement on whether or not to accept an applicant. The actual members of the Authority, my Vice President shall decide but the aim is to recruit those who will perform the role with due objectively and competency rather than any political equality.

Ian Arbuckle: The sole purpose of the Immigration committee was always to assess any potential PTO risks and to speed up the decision process I will have three staff members.

Cry of the Banshee: the immigration is a thing i take in serious, i like the system of a committee of immigration. i will not change this.

The Republics Assassin: I shall disregard the old draconian rules of government on immigration, these bourgeoisie swine need to learn we are all human even as multies or bots. It is simple though the map shows clear lines in reality the coding of the page is not lined.

After Daniel.Plainview's impeachment and attempted theft of eIreland's treasury in May, the issue of security is fresh on our collective minds. The current arrangement of our Ministry of Finance isolating national funds away from the CPs control seems to have been the sole factor in preventing Daniel from stealing a significant sum; would you intend to consent to continuing this current arrangement with our MoF?

Seanan: Yes, I fully support Appleman's continued defence of our national treasury.

Ian Arbuckle: The first time Daniel Plainview got elected I started having doubts as we were electing someone who we never heard about and Apple runs a very good risk assessment so he ticked all the boxes for potential theft. What we've learnt from Daniel’s term is that only elect competent experience players and not some Harry and Dick that came from the street out of nowhere.

I intend to keep our vault under the protection of Appleman and his risk assessment is spot on as always.

Cry of the Banshee: it's a serious matter, i cannot say precisely now, i will discuss with appleman, and i will add loouman in the discussion.
listen i run for candidacy, with biednymis..if you think we are thieves...all are 😁"

The Republics Assassin: I have made it clear it was unfortunate that my party backed that British scum, however to do better I have made it clear I intend to rob the treasury. I am at a whole convinced that my finance minister The Republics Assassin will handle the situation well. Though the treasury is in a clear need of its own minister separate from the minister of finance.

Are there any special goals or projects that you plan on undertaking this month?

Seanan: Nationalization of the State Commune is my "special project". The implications are an inclusive looks on the role of State in organizing our military effort and tromp previous criticisms of the exclusive nature of government funding. It has great potential as a common political platform as a left-wing far-reaching program.

Ian Arbuckle: The main projects would be improving national army infrastructure and re-introducing TUP under new set of rules. An airstrike will be on the list as well.

Cry of the Banshee: if the campaign against UK is up, surely try to reactive a babyboom. i think it should be a good opportunity to motive new players.

The Republics Assassin: I plan the death of my enemies and those who subvert my rule. I also have planned to do what I do every night, that is try to take over the world.

This is a packed election going into July with five candidates in the running as I write this. How do you predict this election will unfold, and how confident are you in your campaign?

Seanan: I believe my campaign has the most merit and imagination; bringing new ideas, new faces and laying out all my goals. However, with so many strong candidates, independent voters might tip the scales in any direction if the rest of the country follow party lines... Dio forbid! May party lines blur! Vote for the best candidate.

Ian Arbuckle: There are lots of possible outcomes. I feel it will be a mix bag between myself, Seanan and Cry of Banshee. I assume ILP will be supporting Cry of Banshee while myself and Seanan will get a share of the Labour and EA votes respectively. My verdict will be Seanan who I have a lot of respect for.

Cry of the Banshee: it's already a little victory for me : an active election.
the plagiarism of seanan (or satyre if he prefers😁) shows my candidacy is already a good thing for the emulation.

The Republics Assassin: I predict that it will be rather tight between 2 candidates though I suspect it is because of voting fraud. The other 2 I feel are screwing each other by running separate as they are old comrades. On how I will do I believe I will win, though voting fraud may steal my win again.

What will this outgoing June term be remembered for?

Seanan: Mirek's Coup! Viva La Revolución!

Ian Arbuckle: Damn you sure like asking questions. The outcome will be getting involved on the international stage and creating more history.

Cry of the Banshee: a quiet term. mirek was a good transition, after daniel plainview. thank you to him.

The Republics Assassin: Stability

What will your term be remembered for?

Seanan: Ducks.

Ian Arbuckle: Keeping things cool like this guy: [Click Here].

Cry of the Banshee: the fighting spirit month!

The Republics Assassin: It shall not be remembered the only thing that will end it is nuclear apocalypse.

There you have it eIreland. The choice between these eIrish candidates is yours. Choose well.
