[Inside the Bastion] Minister of Home Affairs

Day 2,628, 13:27 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Spir Tus

As I said a couple of months ago, I don't write much when I'm part of the government. I would like to apologize for this and I will promise there will be some new articles coming up. I have a lot of ideas and I will have the time to write them down. Today another article of the series Inside the Bastion. In this series I give you my view of being part of the Bastion. This means my experience in the government or another function which is ascribed to being part of the ruling class. This time it's all about my job as Minister of Home Affairs, Garmr VI.

I've tried to understand why I'm not writing so mich when I'm in the government. Of course, this is due to the limited time I have, but also to the conflicted interests. As I wrote in one of my first articles (If you're interested), the double role of government people isn't something I like. As a congress member I will write about the government, and sometimes even against the government. But being part of the government, means I'm writing against myself. And this double interest isn't restricted to my media activity.

This term I started as State Secretary of Home affairs, but due to the fact Legendardisch stepped down, I was promoted to Minister of Home Affairs. I heard the job of the MoHa is simple and you don't have to do much, but this isn't true. This was probably the most stressful month of all for me. In the beginning of the month there was a citizenship application from HK416. You would say: that's easy with the current immigration policy of Garmr. Don't let anyone in, only if they have a good reason to be here. For me it wasn't easy. I think it will be hard to find anyone who disagrees more with this policy then I do. Another time I will maybe explain my view on immigration. In short, I think we need somehow more experienced soldiers and more politicians in our country. Immigration is one of the ways we could use to achieve this. Closing the borders will result in a slowly decreasing activity rate, while with open borders there will be more new faces who will stimulate us to improve ourselves and our country.

You think, if you don't agree with the policy, why did you take this job then? That's because I wanted to see this policy from the position of The Ministry of Home affairs and to see the laws related to this ministry at work. Besides my article on the double roles, I also wrote an article in the past about the SCI Protocol (This one). As a new player I thought it was weird that the MoHa could do whatever he wants. He is able to let everybody in the country, legally. This month I was able to test this with the expat status application of Aries Prime. All other government members disagreed with my decision to grant Aries expat, and this resulted in congress revoking my decision. Of course, I wouldn't have given him Expat if I knew there was no majority for this, but I was wrong. I thought there were much more people who agreed with me in congress.

Nevertheless, this was a nice opportunity to test the law and it seems congress is quickly able to repeal decisions of the MoHa on the topic of expat. On the topic of immigration this isn't possible. It was also a possibility for me to see how much congress members don't vote on this, even when they can change things the way they like it. I think the result of the voting shows the importance of the forum. It is really important, but a lot of congress members think otherwise, with this result (I still believe if everyone voted, there would have been a majority for granting Aries expat status).

There was also a case where Slower28 did my job for me and granted someone citizenship without my knowing. This is prohibited by law, and resulted in a blacklist vote. Slower28 did apologize for his actions and said he wouldn't have done it if he knew who he let in. So the usually two months blacklist punishment was reduced to one month, if congress would have voted yes. The voting is still going on, but it will probably result in no blacklisting at all. I still don't get the blacklist laws sometimes. To quote myself from my blacklist article (day 2,49😎: "These blacklist laws are a product of the elite, for the elite. The content of these laws are vague, because the 'bastion' will fill in the content different in every case. There is no protection for the citizens and the Congress Members against randomness of the government and the congress." Now I see what this means in practice.

Usually, after all this I would have resigned as MoHa. If you take a decision, and the people of the eNetherlands disagree with you and revoke your decision, it's time to resign. My authority as MoHa is not only questioned or criticized, but I also get the feeling there is no confidence in me and my decisions. However, I don't want to have the reputation of someone who always resign from his government job and after speaking with some people, I decided to go on and see what this job has more to offer for the last couple of days of this term.

After all, it was a very hard month. I was congress member and government member at the same time and I still think it is my duty to do both when you are both. This means opposing yourself, which is very hard, opposing the government you're in yourself and this also means of course being opposed by the government, and congress. But I want to make clear I have chosen for this myself. I could have chosen for just being a government member, doing what I have to do, leaving my principles and be a tame sheep in congress, but I decided to stay with myself. I don't have any hard feelings to any government or congress members. They did there job or/and did the same thing as I did. Although it was hard, it was very fun and I've learned a lot again.

Are you also interested in politics? Join the forum and debate with me and many others. Yes it is sometimes hard, but it is also very fun. I hope to see you there.
The only thing you need to participate is Dutch citizenship 😉
