[ILP] Term in Review / So Long For Now
Gerald Smyth
Hey ILP it's been an honour to serve as your Party President.
A couple of good things happened under my term. I'm here to brag not only about myself and my comrades but our party and how we can continue the journey.
Expansion
We were able to get up to Number 1 in the ranks. Thanks to mass messages from WHS, Cydp and myself.
I am proud to have Ireland's largest party be the ILP and I hope this trend continue.
Unity in Eire
Party unity was also a goal. I think having six of Ireland's best political parties come across the aisle to back such a qualified candidate. The talks between the Irish Freedom Party, Independent Voices and our Independent Labour Party were fabulous and having Saoirse, the Irish Union Party and the Great Ireland Movement back our candidate was a touching moment in Irish unity. A new leftist party also came to the scene, the Socialist Alliance of Ireland which the ILP is willing to embrace and promote our leftist ideology.
Community
We also held a handful of lotteries and competitions thanks to Liam Tatlock and I hope more of these will come. Dahmnaic won the logo contest but the new logo doesn't seem to want to upload. The admins should get around to taking care of that.
ILP Leadership Board
I'd like to thank the ILP Leadership Board who did tremendous work. It was a mix of old and new faces and they are responsible for most of the work in this party this past month.
The ILP Leadership Board was
Gerald Smyth - President
MikeBane - Vice-President
RavenAnarcho - Secretary General
Winston Hope Smith - Senior Advisor
Liam Tatlock - Advisor, Spokesperson
Comrade Lovely - Advisor
Cydp - Advisor
Continuing the Legacy: MikeBane
MikeBane - the founder of the Independent Labour Party, incumbent Vice-President and world renowned leftist - is by far the most qualified candidate to continue the good work here at the ILP. He's a polarizing figure in eIrish politics but hey that's what makes it interesting. I'm sure promoting the eLeft will be at the core of his administration.
So Long For Now
I was saddened to be unable to serve as Brian Boru's Prime Minister and continuing the expansion of Ireland's greatest political party but I have to leave this game for some time. I'll be gone for about two weeks for personal reasons but when I return I hope to see some fun and I'll be ready to get back to work.
~ Ireland is in a pivotal position and we need pivotal leaders for this pivotal moment. ~

To be honest, you getting to number one spot is down to literally nothing ILP has done, its down to Saoirse consistently losing members over the last twenty one days.
It can be seen since a certain date quite recently that Saoirse has lost a high number of members and that is what has made ILP a number one party. Since the 22nd of last month Saoirse has lost twenty members while ILP has gained one.
The Patriot party has gained more members than ILP since then with nineteen members joining the party
Ah here they come to gloat in an article not even about them.
@Marcus yes this is a factor. But the ILP's ability NOT to lose members is something I think needs to be commended. It is true that the Patriots grew in members by a lot. Best of luck at recruiting or adding multis or whatever it is you're doing. Couple of dodgy accounts all coming from the same time (late December/early January) with minimal activity and few friends but most seem legit. This being said there are odd looking accounts in every party but don't think people don't keep their eyes open for such trickeries.
There are odd accounts in loads of parties, six on the last page of your party..and thats before going looking at any other accounts further up.
I was just pointing out how your party didn't get to number one by mass messages as you said, if your saying anything about multies look no further than your own door step.
Good article, Gerald. You had a great term this month! o7 🙂
To his credit, Smyth was actually able to stop a very steep decline in ILP members that had been taking place the month before. I don't know if it is anything specific they did but they could have lost a lot even more if things had kept going the way they were going. Kudos for that.
That being said, however, I feel I must voice my personal distaste for mass-PMing as a recruitment method for parties, especially if it’s the primary one that is used. It is not necessarily a dishonorable practice in and of itself, but as we have seen it definitely has the potential to be abused. Of course I'm fairly confident the ILP wasn’t actually slandering other parties this time like they have been caught doing in the past, but why not just remove all doubt and do your recruiting in the public eye where others can actually fact-check and counter the claims that are being made to these young and impressionable players? Or is transparency and fairness just something your party preaches and not something it actually practices?
And that goes for all parties, btw, not just the ILP. I know my own party and many others have done their share of mass PMing in the past, but I have never really understood why it is still accepted practice in this country. IMHO young players should not be getting their information about Irish politics and possibly even culture and history and society from unchallengeable claims made behind closed doors. Sorry for turning this into a debate, but I am genuinely curious what the moral justification is for this kind of thing.

REALLY?
Nice term Gerald, although I havent agreed with a lot of your party's policies this last month & had a heated argument with Mike Bane. The manner that you and senior ILP members conduct themselves with is great. I hope to see you run again for Party President in the near future.
Just for the record
Yes the ILP was losing members and we continue to do so
However Saorise is also losing members (at a higher rate at the moment)
The difference is we are also gaining members which initially stopped the decline and then reversed (be it slowly) the trend.
The mass message has no reference to any other party (other than noting our current rank) as I'm sure those with multis can confirm.
No rather than winging on Gerald's article maybe best you redouble your efforts in your own party.
A good term Gerald, halting the slight decline and turning it round when Ireland is in the doldrums. Let's hope we can continue that upturn and make the Irish political scene a more fun and agreeable place.
A short info.....the real reson why is Gerald Smyth leaving for couple weeks is coz i introduced with The Word from Heavens.
Gerald was so impressed he decided to take some time to study The Word on the top of the nearest mountain......
@Stilpo I PM'd you our message if you'd like to evaluate it. You have a very valid opinion. It works for us; I can't think of a better alternative for the situation we're in.
@Hank thanks!
@Kurgan Yes I am preparing my things to study with the Overlords of the Human Race and a fluffy bunny to learn the ways of The Word.
I can say that the day I created this account, I got a mass mail message from a party which basically said that all the other parties were out to ruin everyone's fun, so not to join them. Mass mailing is lame and impersonal.
Hi Digitess
I assume the message was not from me?
Gerald I forgot to say thanks for your hard work we appreciate it
ILP Ábu
The ILP appreciates you to WHS! You're vital to this party.
@Digitsss: Could you please provide the person who mailed you such PM? It was most likely not authorized by any ILP senior member at this moment and if it was done by an ILP administration from the past than we apologize for the misdeeds of party members. We try to uphold a positive image and fairness towards all players.
I didn't and shall not clarify which party it was from, I was responding to Stilpo's point about mass messaging. It's lame and can be divisive, and I'm not in favour of it as a practice. Parties should respect each other rather than trying to get one over on each other all the time.
"No rather than winging on Gerald's article maybe best you redouble your efforts in your own party."
Who is whinging?
I was just pointing out the inaccurate information on this, since the 20th of last month ILP as gained no members but also lost none.
If that is whinging then I seriously lol
