[ILP] Congress Candidates

Day 1,951, 08:48 Published in Ireland Ireland by Liam Tatlock

Tomorrow sees the next Congress elections and the first since the unfortunate events of last month. Up until a couple of days ago, there was significant doubt about whether we would actually have a Congress this month with the British invasion and, if we managed it, would it be a full Congress of 40. Well, thanks to some fierce fighting and an excellent Friday where we took back Dublin and held Shannon, that's not a worry. Congratulations to all those who fought to defend the country, both Irish and non-Irish.

This has been my first month as PP and the ordering of the list has been a tough one with many candidates who I believe would be a credit to the party and to Congress. The final list is given below and I can only apologise for anyone towards the bottom of the list. I used a formula based on experience, activity, reliability, with a bonus for young players and there was little to split several candidates. Let's hope we get a bumper vote to give as many as possible a chance.

With no original ILP members last month, I've not been party to the Congress threads, but I believe things have been, shall we say, sprightly? For a long time, ILP Congress members have done their job efficiently and to the best of their abilities and I expect no change to that from the successful candidates this month and hope that we can report on a calmer month there this time.

It seems to have become customary in these articles to urge future Congress members to donate their 5 gold to the Treasury. I've never announced that in past campaigns as I see it as an attempt to influence voters and I would always leave it up to the conscience of the individual member. I do, however, have confidence in whoever the voters choose from our party to do the right thing.
