[HD] A week in Westminster

Day 5,856, 04:22 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by militarista

On the train from my constituency to London, nobody talks of what drives the day, every day, in my "bubble": Abolish the Congress thread, if not abolish the Congress as a whole.

At the gates of Westminster, I proudly show my new, beloved badge to a staffer.
– Please come in, old-boy – he says, with a sneering glimpse at it.
I am not offended, should I?, I have heard the same epithet in a popular comic in Italy, called "Dylan Dog".

I should have imagined; a party pin with a roaring lion might seem out-dated after almost six thousand days. An Empire is a brand which works mostly on foreigners – like the Monarchy, I guess.

So here I am, in a temple of Democracy. In my past, despite my nickname, I was a strong advocate of the Republic against the military dictatorship of the Peninsula. Look at me now, taking the oath to respect the values of a Crown that is no more.

On the lobbies, my colleagues spend all the time talking about the futility of a Parliament Thread in the Parliament Thread. How bizarre. They want to use the national board, instead; I see on it only the flags of our present campaigns.

My comprehension of eBritish political dynamics is (still) scarce. I see two factions, armed to the teeth one against each other. In a few days we will have a Presidential Election and this partisan polarity will peak, and then fade away for a while.

Until that moment, you will find me here, sipping a cup of tea. To obtain the citizenship, I abjured. I said I prefer it over coffee. Now I see it was not a lie: it is quite hard to find a good espresso during my weekly travel across the Midlands.

In return, a tabloid is saying that after these hazardous declarations it will be impossible, for me, to win back my seat in the next Parliament. Luckily, it will be abolished. I hope the public trust will be someday restored – with politicians like us, it won't be easy. Otherwise, Congress would be only a dispenser of gold medals...

⚠️ In Italy I was used to write this kind of "Rpg" stories: hope you do not take it too seriously and enjoy its spirit.

🍕 For my eItalian friends: in reality, I am working in a pizzeria, please pretend I had some success in my past adventures there.
