[eUK] To Rescue an eNation

Day 2,785, 08:04 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Gali.

The eUK, it seems, is finally on the brink of something rather big. We are under a wipe that will be especially hard to shake off, and our community seems to have finally slumped into disrepair, certainly, our situation looks grim. Fortunately, all our good, active citizens have joined together in one government to get us out of our predicament. However, this won't solve the urgent issue of our community- it is near-on completely dead. I can literally name every active citizen; it's clear that our situation has rapidly declined over the past few months.

What to do about las problemas?

In order to solve the issues in our community, we have to find out exactly what those problems are and what they're caused by. First off, we have the problems with the actual game, namely- it's not holding people's interest, and not many people play it to start off with. Of course, we can't change the game, but we can make the community more interesting and engaging. A good solution to this would be to use the usual method of the MoEnt organising fun games, a bit like the long anticipated return of viking Island 😉. In my opinion, little things like raffles and quizzes won't keep people playing, it's games that give you an obligation to get involved in a community that really keep people playing. For that we don't even need games, you just have to join an active and friendly party like the UKRP or ESO and voila! You're on your way to becoming a part of a community.

However, finding a community is not such a chief issue. That chief issue, and deep concern of many, is the younger egeneration. As Addaway put it "there's nobody to succeed me [as speaker]". This problem, concerning as it is true, can only be solved by raising the new generation in a way we haven't seen before.

Originally, my idea for a solution was to have a very loosely structured version of the eBrit University that was to be focused exclusively on epolitics. However, I eventually realised that a curriculum-based structure wasn't going to work in raising a new generation of epoliticians. The idea went through various structural forms until, amid discussion with Wolds on irc, we decided that the best form for this idea would be to literally create a community. What we decided to do is to create a mass PM made of people who had opted to take part in this. The PM will include a good mix of new and old, and the theory is that the young players will keep the old players involved, whilst the knowledge of the old players will rub off on the new ones.

I think I've used this before, but it's the best meme I've ever seen...

In the PM, discussion will take place on the current issues and how to solve them. Listening and taking part in discussion is a very good way for new players to learn things, it certainly worked for me and I'm sure that physically solving the political and social problems of today is preferable to a curriculum based system.

I don't feel like I've explained the concept terribly well, so here's a summary of what will happen...
I will be prompting frequent discussion in the PM. The discussion will mainly be about solving this issue of a vanishing community, but it will also be about various epolitical things that are taking place around us. It's important to highlight the fact that the group has no power, and is simply there to muse on various aspects of elife. Hopefully the group can become more official, with everyone in it writing various reports and musings in their newspapers from time to time, and hopefully we'll come up with a name.

I suppose that this idea is more an act of conservation than anything, essentially we're just trying to preserve and sustain at least a part of the eUK community. I also realise that this is characteristically vague, and at times, pointless thing for me to do, but trust me, if this is done well enough it could have a profound effect on the eUK community.
